Havent sold any baby gears yet, but i had a big clean out of some of my pre preggers clothing. Quite a lot of it newish, label, this season and i was struggling to get anything for them. OK I caved. I'm keeping 3 boxes of Ella's NB - 1 wardrobe, in case we need it later! Because I'd be gutted if we did have a 3rd child, a wee girl, and I'd gotten rid of the good stuff! And if we decide to stick with two kids, then I'll pass them on. So of course I'm keeping my favourites of the lot, which means the rest is not as marketable, so it goes to friends for free. Part of me thinks Gah! Where were our big boxes of hand-downs when we needed them? But then, none of our mates at that point had had girls of their own and were parting with the wardrobes, so so be it. Trade Me is sooo hard at the moment to sell things on. I had one recently which was an absolute corker ...

A girl bought an item for $5.50 plus $4.50 post and packaging. Over a week after the auction and multiple emails later, she finally paid - but underpaid because she didn't like the postage charge. She said $3.00 should do it so that was all I was getting! and she actually only paid $2.50 for postage! When I queried with her she said that I could wrap it in a plastic bag and send it like that and why didn't I have free packaging? Ummm ... because I just closed 50 auctions successfully and no one has that much packaging and why should it be free anyway?? The postage costs clearly stated postage and pacakaging and she committed to that cost by bidding! If she didn't like the post and packaging charge (as it is p & p is costing me $4.10 but she's not getting her 40 cents back! All other traders, if I spend more than I ask for I stand the cost, if I spend less, I email them and offer a refund) why not query it earlier, or not bid on the auction to start with! (Bearing in mind we're talking about a $170 cardy in new condition here ...)

It took over another week of negotiations to get the full postage cost out of her too. Ug! What a hassle for $5.50!

What infuriates me is that I'LL end up with a negative feedback out of it!

with all my brand new label still attached stuff ive had varying success - all my girl clothes still had labels on and whats left over is being sold in a bulk lots. But yeah PP. Thanks - I'm keeping just the one box of favourites from the last 2 years should they be needed again, and have sorted out some newborn PP outfits, and one NB bulk lot, the rest can go. I know what you mean about it not being worth it if they sell for nothing, Jen, just a PITA for all the running around. I haven't sold any baby clothes (obviously), but I've just done an absolute mass of auctions and what I found was that if you had your start as your reserve, things seemed to sell really well, and often even passed the buy now in the end!

I'm selling a basically brand new high chair at the moment, and I opted to keep the buy now well below what it would cost to buy it new ($100), as well as very reasonable compared to brand new, cheaper high chairs in general, and the start/reserve is really reasonable too ($40).

I work on the theory that a dollar in the pocket is better than stuff in the wardrobe not being used and taking up space    I think people are always going to trawl for baby clothes (I do!!) so I'd say as long as your prices aren't stupid, you'll be all good.

Oh! and make sure your prices allow for listing and success fees! I would list any 'labelled' (as in PP, JK etc) stuff that is in really good condition- other than that I wouldn't bother. I had alot of success with my PP stuff but not alot wih everything else I found my sets were alot easier to sell and I got good prices for them and the later season stuff went for good prices
In saying that I have noticed a drop since the postage prices went up It depends what u have got and what condition I guess but no harm in trying?

OK I'm going through Ella's wardrobe of things she's grown out of... lordy it's taken me all afternoon so far and I'm still not done! I don't know whether to list stuff on Trade Me or not... I've had varied success with TM in the past, but not a great deal for clothes. We were actually given barely any clothes for her, so there's sure a lot of $$ that I invested in her wardrobe, so recovering some of that would be nice, but honestly, are people having any success selling baby clothing these days?
