Author: busymum
Subject: 20650
Posted: 04 September 2008 at 8:05pm

Woah, woah, woah, I can't believe Plunket's advice was to let him cry all night!!!!

He's hungry! The growth spurts at that age are roughly 3 1/2 mos and then 4 1/2 mos. At the 4 1/2 mos growth spurt I go right ahead and introduce solids - just a teaspoon a day, or more if he wants.

If you want to keep up breastfeeding cut the bottle, as the flow is much easier than breast so it is likely with a mix of both that he'll insist on 100% bottle.

If you don't want to introduce solids yet, you'll just have to persevere with the nights but don't worry it probably won't last for more than 2 weeks before the next break and then next round of spurting.

Hope that helps!

Thanks mel, Ive tried everything on there, even bought a Go-go bag!

Things I have tried:
Wrapping
Changing Bedding (he now has a go-go bag)
Dreamfeed (Still wakes 2 hours later, in fact it makes no difference at all.,)
Dummy (It only helps for half an hour or so)
Bottle feed at night (hes breastfed during the day)
Massage, bath, feed, cuddle routine daily

I have even had him in the buggy in our room at night for 3 nights and have tried rocking it every time he wakes, but it takes just as long to get him to sleep as it does leaving him in his cot,.

Harry started sleeping well at about 10weeks then from 13 weeks onwards it all went to custard! He is now nearly 8 months and in the last month has just started waking only once instead of the 2 - 3 times a night. It is SO exhausting only getting 2- 3 hours sleep in a row yourself!

I hope he comes right for you, I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you! Big hugs!!

He was sleeping beautifully, 10 hours, and then he stopped . It started with just once a night, and now hes waking every 3 hours and will not sleep any longer. Ive tried leaving him but he just talks, then cries, for over an hour and a half. He does this 2x in the night which = 2-3 hours sleep for me. Plunket said the only thing would be to leave him to cry ALL night.
He is growing beautifully and is having 5 feeds a day. Please does anyone have any advice? Im sure ive tried everything!
