Three shots of Whiskey and then go to bed wearing a jumper, lots of blankets and a hot water bottle and let yourself sweat a little. Yeah try to get lots of rest, difficult I know with kids.

You could try getting some Otrivin nasal spray. Doesn't make it go away as such, but it definitely works for the nasal congestion.

Otherwise, stick with the lemsips et al. I have gotten myself a nasty cold and I so need to get rid of it fast. I have drinking lemsips and taking some cold and flu tablets but its not budging.
