I say go with mummytobesept08 - hold off for your first trimester if you're worried, let bubs get slightly more independent from you (ie wait till m/s dissipates and bubs is relying on the placenta) and then treat it. It def didn't cause me any probs at that stage.

Oh yeah, and DEFINITELY go for the yoghurt!

All the best!

Edited by kmarie

Now I've got a super-sensitive (ie painful!!!) gland. I wish I had done something about it! Mind you that was years, not 9 months.
I kept getting it so much this pregnancy that I stopped treating myself. But then i ended up giving it to DH (yes men can get it too!) so he wasn't very happy lol.

I second the acidophiles yoghurt thing. You can eat it as well as put it on the sore itchy parts (un-flavoured of course! don't want chunks of apricot down there lol)

don't worry about the box saying don't take in pregnancy, they mean don't take it without consulting a doctor.

If you're worried about a m/c then why not wait to treat for a few weeks, til you reach the magic 12 weeks? It wont harm you, as long as you are comfortable!

It should be gone before you give birth though, otherwise baby can catch it on the way out. But that's ages away

good luck with your pregnancy!

    Author: Nefertiti
Subject: 20769
Posted: 08 September 2008 at 9:25pm

My mw gave me a form last week for thrush. I only have a mild case, meaning I only notice I have it every few days or more.
Mw ensured me it was fine to use the cream (clomazol) during pregnancy.
The pharmacist says its ok, just dont insert applicator too far. And only use the cream one, not the pill form during pregnancy.
I have a MIMS book at home (the same reference book doctors use when checking medications. My doc gave one to me a couple months ago). Anyway, its says it is a category A which is the safest category for preg, but the precaution was pregnancy :S.

So……the reason for my hesitancy (because I can hear you now asking why I have already left it a week!) is because in dec last year I had thrush (now, I only ever get thrush while pregnant) so went to doc you have me canasten which apparently is the same as clomazol. So I used that (cream). Not quite 2 weeks later I got a bfp only to start bleeding a day or so later. It was later put down as a chemical pregnancy. So now I’m really scared to use this stuff! As I said I only ever get thrush when pregnant so have obviously used it before. I found it interesting that you shouldn’t take the pill form while pregnant. With my first (mind you nearly 16yrs ago)…I kept getting thrush while preg and was always given pills. For the life of me I cant remember what I was given with last baby, now 8yrs.

So I don’t know what to do! Im so scared of mc because im only 9 weeks tomorrow and scared what using this will do.

For those of you who have had thrush in early pregnancy, how were you treated? Because my symptoms aren’t there all the time; ie no itching or the classic cottage cheese, should I still take it?

Oh…and on the directions on the box it says not to use in pregnancy! And on the info leaflet that was in the box it says only if health professional thinks it is essential for your wellbeing!

What does thrush do if left untreated?? Omg I just don’t know what to do!
