Obviously only what works for me... but here goes:<br /><br />Use Lucas PawPaw as a lipbalm in general, it prevents them occuring.<br />If you sense one coming- Use Dr Harker's Healing Balm/salve  it comes in a small pottle and looks like lipbalm.  It's natural- and really good.  Itll last forever too.  A small amout every few hours.  I used to pop it around the coldsore a bit too to stop the spread.... <br /><br />I found Blistex actually caused coldsores to appear.  Like it stimulated the nerve or something. Plus it felt horrible on your lips, like they were burning up.<br /><br />Vit C in high doses works well in the early stages too. 2000mg kinda thing... but not sure about that during pregnancy.??<br /><br />Anyways- thats my 2c... Dr Harkers Healing Salve.]]>

As soon as I feel the tingle, I slather on blistex which seems to work.<br /><br />Best of luck!]]>

It also has l-lysine and propolis in it, it doesn't say anything on the pack about not using it in pregnancy.<br /><br />There is also Betadine cold sore paint and ointment available too.  The base for those is povadone iodine.  <br /><br />You could also ask your pharmacist if its okay to take L-lysine tablets to reduce the occurrence and severity of cold sores.]]>

I used it probably 3-4 times.  Freaked out but the scan was all clear and am not using it now so all good.<br /><br />I find the best way to avoid getting them is to stay out of the sun.  I get more from UV exposure than from being run down.  Chap sticks and Vaseline are good too.  I haven't had a sore since I started slapping on the vaseline every night before bed.  Helps stop the skin drying out and it seems to work.  ]]>

I get them when I am really run-down, and I think the not sleeping combined with the flu caused mine. The pharmacist just told me that I could use Savex or Blistex.<br /><br />I have always been a Savex user for dry lips, I find it much better than Blistex. It doesn't really do much for the cold sore to be honest, but does at least keep it hydrated so you don't have horrid cracking and blistering.<br /><br />And, I guess, if it is that painful, you can take panadol although I have been wary of even having too much of that while pregnant.<br /><br />Sucks eh?!?<br /><br />]]>

I was on an oral daily dose before as my cold sores were out of control and would spread internally.  Not very nice.  Haven't had any since being pg which is weird.......<br /><br />A friend told me if you lance it then apply pure aloe vera direct from the plant then it will disappear.  Never tried it so can't say for sure.  Otherwise theres nothing you can do except keep clean and don't touch it.  Sorry, not much help but I totally sympathize with you.  ]]>

I am seeing MW on Monday so I can ask her then, but I am a bit worried about passing infection on to bubs. <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley6.gif" border="0"> ]]>
