My friends mum had to get her breast removed because of breast cancer so when she could she got liposuction and a tummy tuck and with the extra fat from the liposuction they reconstructed her boob! Then there is no chance of rejection and it looks and feels completely natural. She got a nipple tattoo too

I would definitely get a boob job if i could! The stretch marks i can handle, i never liked showing my tummy anyway, but i really dont like how my boobs look or feel , They are doing their job well but when thats all done i will be saving like a mad thing to get to it done!

I had a gaping hole just a bit bigger than an old 50c where 3 of the insicions (sp?) met. It was terrible and couldn't move my arm for a few weeks for fear of it bursting even more. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I'm VERY aware that not everyone is going to have the same! I'm not that naive!!
This is a forum - Differing opinion is imminent.

I am also aware of risks and the like and it is not a decision I will make lightly, I am researching different aspects and options etc.

I have also had plastic surgery previously when I was younger to correct a botched scar after a childhood illness. Yes it hurt, yes the recovery sucked but the outcome was worth it becasue now my neck looks normal and I do not have a scar covering a majority of it. So for me, my previous experience has not put my off.

All that people have said is that they don't like it and it's not for them, as they should be free to do. The question in this thread is would YOU have it done. If people dislike it then they are welcome to express that without judgement. Just as everyone else is free to express that they would have it and why.

I have had it and can say its definitely something I would NOT do again.

I had assymetrical boobs and they have completely screwed my back. After waiting 5 long and painful years on the public list, I got a free reduction and lift.

It was excruciating, and the scars are nothing to desire at all, they're everywhere and huge. While the result is me having less pain (the pain has not fully gone away as its been affecting me for so long) I needed to get it done but I would never opt to do it. That's just my opinion.

I am unhappy with my body but what is 'wrong' with me is just me. I can change my belly, arms etc and anything left over is just the way I was intended to be. I'm not the most attractive thing and I'm not slim but that's OK. I'm eating well and exercising.

I too think that makeup and surgery are too completely different things and probably said by someone who hasn't had a procedure done before.

Having said all of that, if you have the money then lucky you and if you choose to spend it on surgery, then go ahead. It's your life and you can choose to spend your money to change yourself if you want.

But I do think that surgery is too readily available. I'm usually pretty ok with my body, and have never had any major hangups over it (apart from the usual - you know, does my bum look big in this etc etc!). Since having Joshua though, and I'm not sure if its the result of c-section or if it just happens, I now have a revolting pouchy thing going on which slightly overhangs my scar. Yuck    Wouldn't mind getting rid of that.

I definitely think its a personal choice. I have friends who are well keen for new boobs - bigger ones. I would like to also point out though that:
- I am not depressed over my appearance/body.
- I don't have really low self esteem.
- I do not require surgery for medical reasons.
- The procedure I am considering could probably be achieved without surgery after a few years, maybe?

I am considering surgery becasue I WANT to. Because I can.
I do not see what is so bad with wanting to enhance my outter self?

I must admit I have not read all the answers yet, will do that in a minute.

I would use the money to hire a personal trainer and a nutrionist. Someone to teach me the best way to train for my body and someone to give me some ideas on different food options!

Everything else is just part of getting older and I plan to do that gracefully.

Like Rach, I am not particularily fond of surgery.. I dont react well to the drugs and I just dont want to risk dying for some perky boobs! Each to their own of course

There is a big difference though between need and want though.

i really think its noone elses business if people chose to get surgery or not , if you dont want to get surgery, cool, dont do it .
People say beauty comes from within , and while i believe this , i also believe that feeling confident about yourself on the outside can help you feel happier inside .
If you , like me, are happy with the way you look and dont stress over your appearance, then , yay for us .

Hell yes I would. I have already spoken to my dr about my boobs and can get them done with my insurance paying some (so I need to save the rest). But I would probably want to lose the weight myself then get the excess skin taken away and anything else that I just can't work on myself.

I want to get my boobs either lifted up again and refilled. They have way more skin than needed on them since feeding two babies. I hate to think what they will be like after the next one...

I think its ok to get surgery on things you cant change yourself...eg, saggy boobs, no boobs, noses, ears, ankles (hehe), saggy tummy.
I think it is cheating to get lipo if you don't excercise and eat right. Of course there are those bumps that wont budge regardless of what you do.

Sorry, just had to add that I think there is a world of difference between wearing makeup and getting plastic surgery!

Yes, they are both used to make us feel pretty but one involves slapping on some cosmetics that wash off at the end of the day, the other is major surgery that cannot be reversed and has risks (including death, as with any general surgery).

Just don't think that's a very realistic comparison to make.

No I'm quite happy the way I am, and/or with changes I can make through improved eating and exercise - sure there are things I'm not the happiest with but I've never been that worried about how I look. It wasn't even until someone mentioned it back in the thread that I remember I have a bung ear! lol one of them has no curve in it so it sticks out more - if anything I think it's cute, it's part of what makes me unique so why would I change it?
Everyone is different tho, I'm not against people getting it, I know some people have this need to change things about themselves and if it helps make them feel better then by all means go for it. Nope. The idea of any sort of surgery freaks me out.

Although I wouldnt mind my boobs back. They are ok now but I hate to think what they are going to be like once I stop bfing. After Keira there was next to nothing left.

I like that plastic/cosmetic surgery is there for people to use if they dont like their looks, yes , beauty comes from within , but some people feel more confident if they feel sexier/prettier to be happier in their outlook on life .
My bestfriend for example , beeeeauuuutiiiful girl , stunning, (and im not even biased, shes hot, id totally do her if i wasnt ...you know, straight ) and she has arthritis, quite badly (eg she had her hips replaced at 13) and her fingers dont straighten , everyone always tells her shes beautiful and that its whats inside that counts , she knows this, but she would like to feel beautiful on the outside too.
She has had plastic surgery on her face , because drugs for the arthritis when she first got it (when she was 6) made her face quite puffy, and she felt heaps better .

Sign me up...

Breast augmentation (they're empty now... EMPTY. And I only breastfed for 4.5 months) UI'd like to be able to fill my C Cup again, instead of my extremely attractive deflated B's that I can tuck into my pants.

Nose job - The tip is too broad and I've always hated it.
Fat pads removed from my cheeks because I've got quite a round face and I'd love to have some definition.

Get my charming gut flap sorted out too...

Being only 20, you're probably all gonna think I'm nuts lol, but I'm so unhappy with myself and things like what I want done aren't as a quick fix.
Tummy tuck - Couldn't get rid of that flap with exercise, and I've been trying my hardest... But the more wieght I lose, the worse it gets.
Boobs... Again, the more weight I lose, the smaller and saggier my breasts become.
Nose... and cheeks... Well... They're self explanitory.

Yup... I'm vain.
But I don't care.
I know DF likes me the way I am, but I also know what he misses my taught pre-baby body.

I'd get everything done, the big 40 is looming fast, and I have no desire to be old and wrinkly.
If I had the money I'd get my boobs done they are fast heading south and I haven't even been through BF yet, my tummy tucked and lypo on my hips and thighs.
Would even consider getting the lump taken out of my nose.

If my tum hung right over like in the picture on the new ad on here, and I was otherwise slim, I would certainly have that removed. Costs be damned!

I don't think I would have a face lift or an eye job - I saw this woman in LAX who was a walking plastic surgery disaster - she freaked me out. My aunty has had a couple of facelifts and she also looks a bit freaky.

I'm all for it. But the funny thing is I only want my boobs done because they are huge (F/G cup) and cause me pain in my shoulders and back and they were already heading south before Daniel, now they are just without a bra to hold them up. Once I'm done with having kids my chiro and GP are gonna help get the process under way for going on the public waiting list as we could never afford it.

No amount of effort on my part has gotten rid of the yucky saggy skin and crinkles from the stretch marks and the fact that they're there because of the two beautiful creatures I carried isn't enough to make me love it!
Its definitely not a priority for me, or even something I'm planning to do, but if we had the money and there was nothing else on our list of things we wanted or needed to do, I'd be on that table in a shot!

Seriously though, I'm open to it. DH said if I ever want to I can have plastic surgery even though he thinks I'm fine.
And he's right coz I'm perfect in every way.
I have perfectly round untoned arms, perfectly formed little stretchmarks from sudden weight gain and perfectly undefined ankles (yes you can get these fixed up a little bit DzinerGirl).

i am planning on getting some boobs!(not huge ones) as mine seem to have vanished over the years not that there was alot there to begin with anyway but it is something i have always been very selfconcious about ever since the jokes and flat chest taunts at highschool.

And I can almost guarantee that a majority of people who are big believers in the "Beauty is on the inside" motto have at some point spent money on something to improve their outter beauty.... So really......Its the same thing, just a lot more expensive.

I am quite interested by this subject because the few people I have told that I am considering surgery seem to feel free to ridicule, frown upon or tell me I'm out of my mind. Rude!

Same with me, so I had cosmetic surgery 4 years ago to correct them. The op changed my personality (for the better) as I had a huge complex.

If I had a major accident and had horrific scarring, probably. I would have a breast reduction if they get too much bigger if I could afford it and it started causing me back problems (DH might divorce me though, lol).

Never just for cosmetic reasons. I actually don't see why there's a stigma with getting surgery.  I wouldn't hesitate to pay big bucks for cosmetic dentistry (in fact we're working it into our budget) and I don't see much difference except that dental surgery seems to be more acceptable.

I also spend a small fortune on makeup/tanning moisturisers/perfumes/clothes/shoes etc all designed to make me look, smell and feel nicer, for some I guess, cosmetic surgery is an extension of that.

Nope. I've had operations before and no way would I voluntarily pay someone to put me through that! I'd also be concerned about the risk of post-op complications, healing, that sort of thing. It's there with any surgery and what happens if you come out with health problems at the end of it?

DH loves me how I am and I'm healthy, that's all I need to feel good about myself.

Just to clarify - I'm not flat out against plastic surgery. If people do it, that's their business not mine and I know it helps for medical reasons as well. I told DH on Sunday that I was planning lipo for my legs, implants for my boobs, a nose job DeVinci Veneers (sp?) for my teeth and hair extensions. I don't think I would have the courage to go through with any of them (and certainly don't have the money).

If needed I would have a boob job, but mostly for a lift. If I have excess skin at all that cant get rid off I would have it removed.

I wouldnt do anything to my face apart from go somewhere like Caci Clinc and try get rid of all the open pores from pimples when I was a teenager.

Ummmm I'm not too sure. Probably for excess skin but that's about it. My tummy still hangs! from when I had Kahtrell, but with my weight loss journey I'm hoping it will be less obvious when I've lost the weight. Plus I've never worn a bikini or anything revealing when I was slimmer, so why would I be hung up about it now. I am considering surgery because I am an adult and I get to make decisions about my body and my life.

yes I definitely will be getting my boobs reduced but that's not really for cosmetic reasons (after all reductions leave rather obvious scars). I'm a 10 in the back and currently an H/I cup.

I asked my doc about what I had to do to get it through the public system and she said marry a plastic surgeon (and was only half joking) So I guess I'll be saving.

yep, I plan on getting my nail bag sorted and boobs done .

I am very happy in my own skin, just want to fix up the bits that diet and exersize won't fix.

Oh and a nail bag is the tummy flap thing. looks like a nail bag that builder peopel have, lol.

Yes/no answer is fine.

 

For me atm the answer is definitely NO. 

I am happy enough in my own skin and I think Charly pointed out in one of the other threads that it is so satisfying to lose weight through healthy eating and exercise plus that's a lifestyle choice for your long term health, not your short term self-image.

If I ever did get surgery it would be to remove excess skin (which I don't have).  Then again give me 10-20 years and I might consider a breast lift
