Whereabouts in NZ are you? I think you have to have a donor from your area for practicality of it.

my friend is looking at ivf and HAS to have an egg donor (she doesn't have any of her own) So THANK YOU on behalf of her , cause without people like you she wouldn't be able to have kids (without adoption that is)

One of my other friends did the donoting side of it 0 twice, said the 2nd time was worse than the first. First couple have had their baby and its around1 now - they have choosen not to keep in contact with my friend. 2nd ones have been great keeping her up tp date and they go twins. Let her know when they were born etc..... Although my friend never expecting anything.

I'm sure I can answer some of your questions from the IVF side of things. You donate your eggs with a clinic and if your in Nelson then Wellington would probably be the closest one.

we could start an egg donors thread! and keep up with how everything is going, support and all that. wel probably need it. we could even possibly talk to potential recipients of the eggs.

i wonder if there are many couples out there that would keep in touch with the donor........i'd love to stay in contact with them and know how the child is growing

i've decided to talk properly to DH tonight about it. have mentioned it to him and he was 'whatever you want to do love' but wasn't really listening. i don't think he thought i was serious

We have started the process, we have had blood tests (to check we have no nasty bugs) and have had to meet with a social worker, doctor and different nurses at the fertility clinic.

We havent started the actual donation of eggs yet - its quite a long process, but the information that they have given me is the same as for an IVF cycle.

I know, thats what im worried about.. i get such BAD morning sickness so im ultra sensitive to hormone imbalances. I suppose a few weeks of being sick is worth it for the thought of giving someone something so special though.
I will talk to DH tonight and gauge his thoughts on it. He handled my moods when i was pregnant well enough so maybe im not too bad.
Why is it that guys get all the easy stuff in life?? No periods, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and if they want to donate they have fun doing it!!! What a wonderful thing. Go on to the IVF forum and read some of the conversations we had with a very selfless women who donated her eggs. We talked her through the IVF with us and I think it helped you may be even able to PM her. Sorry I can't remember her name with out checking back to the forum but I think it was something like mumof2??

Good on you! I always thought it was something I would too after I've finishing breeding myself as well... but you have to go through all the hormone injections etc for an IVF cycle and after witnessing how moody and irritable my SIL got when going through IVF I'm not sure I (or my DH!) would be happy with that part of it.

I always hear of guys donating sperm, but it's not often I hear about women donating their eggs.

Im not 100% yet and im yet to talk to my DH about it but i am seriously considering donating some of my eggs.

Is there any one out there that has done it and how was it for you? Do you keep in contact or is there no emotional connection to the child? How traumatic is the whole process on your body and mind?
I havent contacted a clinic yet, im still just putting my feelers out there with it, but it has always been something that i have wanted to do.

i seem to be super fertile and despite taking contraception i still get pregnant
I know how many people out there are struggling to get pregnant and a donor is their only option besides adoption. I would love to be able to help someone in this way.
i dont know how my DH will react, although he is pretty cruzy about things but this might be a bit much for him.
