I used to be with Porse. It was great for allowing me to still do what i wanted with V. You can generally negotiate your pay with the Porse manager & then with the individual family. You are allowed two under two (including your own) & up to four in total. Great for that added income if you wanna be at home. The only thing i would say is make sure you stipulate your boundaries for the child at the start & stick to them, & also your working hours. Too many parents tend to give the run around with this kind of thing. (i've been a nanny for the past 3 years with a family who never were home on time etc).

Yup I have done it and it is great if you want to stay at home with your own kids and make a bit of extra money since you have a qual you will prob get more than the average, which is about $5, the only down fall is you have to pay your own tax etc, and fit kids in around your own routine, but it is great if you want to stay at home with your kids........... Was thinking of Porse.. am a early childhood teacher and was thinking of looking after Luke at home as currently work in a daycare. Worked in ECE for 8 years.

Pick me! My DH and I are both home-school graduates and very keen to home educate our kiddies - officially starting next year *feels proud and nervous*

Here are some pro's and con's for starters:

Pro's
You get to know your kids really well
Being in charge of what your kids learn (although this can also be quite daunting!)
There is heaps of support out there: from social groups amongst home-schoolers to ready-made curriculums
Your children can advance in subjects when they are ready: for example, Hannah (4 1/2) can already read beginner books independently but she is roughly school entry level for writing.


Con's
You will need to be prepared to live on a single income for several years
It's hard to be patient with your kids when you are around them nearly 24/7


The "social" question:
The biggest thing that you will get asked (and probably ask yourself) is about social interaction. Bear in mind that children who go to school mostly only hang with people their own age and don't necessarily make friends. Your involvement with other home-schoolers and people in any other group you are in (for example we are part of a Church as well) will really help and you can add to that with extra-curricular activities, e.g. sports, as well.
