I think it we don't get anywhere it'll be weaning time, but that'll be more Harry led rather than me wanting to do it if you know what I mean. Hope things are going well for you with Lucas? I think you've done amazing to continue to 19 months. I know what you mean about wanting to continue to a certain age and feeling guttered. I'd always said I'd go to at least a year and then see. But mummy's health is so important.

But anyway, update.... Harry breastfed this morning! First time in a few days. Yay. Yesterday I didn't even attempt cos I was too scared and kinda upset. I took heaps of supplements before I went to bed last night lol, so that my supply would be better. And this morning I got the boy up as soon as he made little noises, rather than letting him play for a bit. And we went straight to the feeding chair without opening the curtains. I think he'd been getting a bit silly and cheeky! So he fed off one side and then bit once and I put him on the floor facing away from me and didn't say anything. Then after about 45 secs I picked him up and said "are you ready to feed without biting now?" and he did! Man I was so scared he was going to bite again. And the bite he did was no where near as sore as the other ones which was great.

So hopefully it will continue this way. Thanks for all your support everyone, it's not an easy thing eh? So many emotions tied up with breastfeeding eh.

He's b/feeding 4-5 times A NIGHT and all day long he just keeps clinging to me like nobodies business and wants booby 24/7. Last week I ended up feeling so run down I couldn't get out of bed, it's totally draining me and I think it's been building up for a while - I've had enough. I'm gutted because I really wanted to carry on till 2 years plus, but the broken sleep (after almost 19 months of it) is just killing me, I have to put my foot down.

So if you are seriously contemplating weaning, let me know and we can support each other if you'd like

ps. Lucas has days where he does the biting thing too, no matter how many times ya say no or put him down for a minute - he just keeps being naughty. I'd like to say it's a phase but he has his days

They often do it to "hurry you along". They can't suck and bite at the same time. When he bites, I would put him down and walk away, and pay NO attention to him, he will soon get the idea that you aren't kidding around.
good luck

I used them not long after Liam was born as my nipples were cracked & bleeding. I found them really good while they healed.

Liam started biting me too not long after his bottom teeth came through. I agree, it was extremely painful & made me rather reluctant to carry on with BF'ing. It turned out to be something I didn't have to worry about for long as Liam virtually weaned himself not long after his first teeth came though & I stopped offering the breast after a week or so. He made it pretty clear he wasn't interested anymore

It flippin hurts so bad! He has 2 bottom teeth and digs them into my nipple and pulls at the same time. He only has one breastfeed a day now, in the mornings.

At first I tried the whole stern voice and put him down on the floor thing, which he found hilarious. Then I tried ignoring it. Then I tried looking sad and hurt (I wasn't faking). Nothing seems to be working.

Yesterday he made me bleed, and today he made me bleed again.
