DH made me a book for our wedding with a wooden cover which is great.

For SIL's 21st she bought a beautiful Anne Geddes book for everyone to write in and then when she and Bro got married she had a fancy photo album for guests to write in.

The others have given some lovely suggestions though. I don't think I'll bother with games. They don't seem popular.

I went and confirmed the food for the party tonight. The guy overcharged me $75!!! I rang him when I got home and he apologized profusely and said he'll make sure he has the money for me on Saturday. We didnt have an engagement party, but we did the polaroid thing for our wedding. It was great for us as DH and I met in the UK and had not met each others families/friends. It meant that after the wedding we could look at the photos to remind us who everyone was.

The canvas idea is great, wish we had thought of that.

For our wedding (which we would've done for our engagement party, but we completely forgot) we had some nice linen cards and gold and silver pens set up on a smal table.
We invited our guest to write a message and put into a little wooden box.
The wooden box we then opened on our first anniversary (as the traditional gift is paper) and read all the messages. (we gave it to MIL to hide for 12 months)
It was the most fun I've had reading them all

The reason I'd have preferred to do it for the engagement party was because we would've invited a lot more people to the engagement party than we did to the wedding, so you get messages from those that you couldn't invite to the wedding, IYKWIM.

We borrowed a Polaroid camera for our wedding and had someone photograph every couple (or group or whatever) as they arrived. Then throughout the night people signed our guestbook (really a fancy photo album) next to their photo. We have messages from every person that was there, it's an amazing memory of the day and I look at it all the time

If you know someone with a Polaroid it's a great option, we thought about doing the digital thing (with a small printer) but the Polaroid worked out really really well. My friends had games at their engagement party - like a quiz thing where we had to write the answers to questions about them. They sent the answers with the thankyou card. You could also have a digital camera/printer or one of those camera's that print out straight away (the name escapes me at the moment...) and glue that on the same page as their message. DP and myself are having our engagement party next Saturday night. I want a something for all the guests to sign and write messages on, I'm just not sure what. Any ideas?

I was also wondering about games or the like. Has anyone been to a party that has them? Was it a good thing?

Any other ideas or suggestions on things to do or have would be gratefully accepted.

We will probably end up getting married in Aussie where DP comes from and I have a lot of family too.
