Having said that I was in hospital for a few nights last week and I got about 80% of what I actually ordered on their little cards. I ended up quite hungry. Fortunately DP came to visit each day and got me muffin break or subway.

When Sienna had her kidney surgery and I was breast/express feeding them I was egg/milk/peanut/soy free, most meals were stuffed up, some meals I never even got anything and the ones I did get that were egg/milk/peanut/soy free were also gluten free so pretty revolting!

Everytime I have been in hospital I have had to ask my DH to bring food in for me, as the hospital havent provided me with dairy free meals. For example - they would bring me toast but wouldnt bring me butter or margarine with it, so I would get dry toast. I think its safe to assume that taking your own food in might be the best option!

Usually when I stay in the maternity ward after giving birth, I have tea, coffee and toast "on tap" and the three standard meals per the hospital menu.

This time around I will be entering the maternity ward with a dr-confirmed intolerance to gluten. What will happen now? Will the hospital cater to that with the standard meals?
