yeah for me I spent heaps of time on here so assumed everyone was the same..i started asking all my friends and not a single one had even heard of a dream feed:)

Isn't that funny how our online expreince can so efffect what we think to be normal. First - I thought the same thing, that I was almost doing something wrong by not doing a dreamfeed, but now I let Blake tell me what he wants - he's gone from 7.30pm - 6.30am solid once and last night he woke at 11pm for a feed then got up at 6.30am. DS was bottle fed and I started giving him a dream feed at around 4 months then stopped at 6 months once he started solids (and he then started sleeping from 7pm-7am). I never accomplished a true 'dream' feed - he woke up every single time. But he often slept a bit during the feed and did go straight back to sleep afterwards, so I guess that's the main thing .

Oh Wow I got the impression that everyone was doing the dream feed thing and that I was just being stupid for not doing. THanks so much for letting me know it didn't work out for you guys, it makes me feel like I'm right to just keep doing what is working for us.

eden would have to be fully awake before she would feed too... could get very frustrating.

Josephnia I thought it was a growth spirt to start with but its been going for more than a week now and he hasn't increased his day feeds any.
I'm actually not to worried about waking to him because he wakes, eats and goes start down so easily but someone mentioned I should try it when I said he'd gone back to three hour. I think I might just flag it-he is a good sleeper I don't want to mess things up.

The Sleep Store info suggests that the dream feed often doesn't work until they're 4 months old...

I tried it when JJ was about the same age as yours but it made him think he was up for the day and we had a messy night afterwards. I'm planning to try again soon - probably on a Friday night so I have the weekend with DH around if I need to catch up on sleep if it makes him just wake up every couple of hours again!

Dream feed just wouldn't work for me, Blake either woke up fully or if he stayed somewhat asleep he was waking up 3-4 hours later anyway so it wasn't extending his sleep any. He was in a good routine just waking up once a night and then we had about 2 or 3 hellish weeks where he was up every 3 or 4 hours during the night and hungry each time. He's just settled back down and did 11 hours straight the other night! Is your wee man hungry when he wakes up? He could just be going through a growth spurt so my advice would be to ride it out, I found that it didn't matter what I tried nothing changed until he was ready. So I attempted this last night for the first time and it was a complete "didn't work" for me. He wouldn't latch or suck in his sleep at all so I tried gently waking him just enough to get him to feed but he'd wake open his eyes, see it was me, smile, and go straight back to sleep. Although that was cute it wasn't the purpose.
I am breastfeed so can't just force the nipple in or anything.
Reason I"m trying is that he used to feed at 6 and be asleep at 630-0230 but at the moment he's waking at 12 and I was trying to get him to go back to his lovely routine.
