There are so many things out there for you and your baby will thank you for it! Hypnobiorthing is def the way to go if you want a natural painless birth. no drugs and oh so relaxing. i did it with both mine and my sister in law did it with her 3rd. granted the 3rd labour was only a min and a half long she had been practicing for months so she wasnt stressed about the birth and had a natural healthy respect for what was happening inside her.
Ecostore baby range is fantastic so is Weleda. Amber necklaces are great for teething too, the natural oils they release into the skin calm the baby and relieve discomfort,

Hi PandaJoe -- I'm the same and have absolutely lived at Health 2000 since I got pregnant!! I found them a really great resource for natural remedies for everything from morning sickness to mastitis...

Eco store cleaning and baby products are great.

Obviously cloth nappies - check out the cloth nappy section of the forum for all the info you will ever need!

Natural fibres for clothing and blankets etc are easy to come by. There are lots of organic clothes etc, but they are generally really expensive.

There are reusable alternatives to most products - eg breastpads (and maternity pads if you're really keen).

Breastfeeding - no waste products with packaging for formula and bottles, energy use in formula and bottle manufacturing etc.

Using second hand stuff - esp cot, buggy, sheets, highchair, clothes - hand-me downs are great.

Having a general non-consumer mindset - there is so much stuff out there and you don't need a lot of it.

Hi PandaJoe,

To start of naturally you might be interested in hypnobirthing - a friend of mine did this - you learn techniques to get through labour without any pain relief etc...

In the first few weeks you don't need to use any soaps etc on babies skin just water - and use a natural oil such as almond or olive for dry skin. As bubs get older have a look at eco store products which smell absolutely yummy!

Try using cloth wipes with water and a few drops teatree oil instead of disposable wipes.

There are heaps of natural household products on the market HEAPS! I took Isla to a baby session each week at playcentre called SPACE programme til she was a year old, and they had lots of info on homemade toys, as did PAFT. No idea where u are or if these are available in your area, but both were very benifical- Isla loved all her baby toys and so did visiting kids! Plastic bottles filled with water/glitter, or stones, she had one with twigs/feather etc in which she loved,...we made shape sorting toys from food contaiers etc,...

I swear by crainal-osteopathy for baby- really helped with Isla being so nsettled after a long hard labour.

Love all ecostore products. We use Next generation washing powder tho cos it smells nicer! Love all th ecostore baby products- shampoo etc.

Sounds great...not sure about the recycled natural fibre clothing though or no buggy!
I am keen on organic food & natural material toys...gaudy plastic junk gives me the creeps anyway.
I am really looking for ideas relating to health, natural therapies, cleaning products etc.

How 'extreme' (for want of a better word) are u planning to be with the enviro-friendly parenting? My first baby is due in February and I am keen to take an environment-friendly approach to motherhood as possible.
I would very much appreciate any tips or suggestions on books and available products which are really focussed on keeping the health of the environment (and my baby) in mind.
I would like to adopt as many natural practices as possible.
