The only reason I sold it was because DH refused to have it as our family car because it was too 'girly' for his liking, and we'd have struggled to fit the giant stroller and portacot in the back - also we wanted a massive boot in our new car so we could install an LPG tank. The corolla served me well, and did an unbelievable amount of mileage. Never gave my friend trouble either - she only sold it because her DH had the same attitude!

Make sure you check for rust, and an knocking sounds while driving, especially turning.

Look where the car normally parks at her house and see if you can see oil on the ground. Thats a bad thing.

Good luck chick!

As are the old ford lasers ...

I'm pretty sure AA magazine named the corolla as the best first car once ...

I had a '92 for laser for my first car, it had already clocked up 230,000kms when my grandparents got it for me. I only upgraded when I was preggers with my boy because I wanted a newish car that was going to be more reliable and not run the risk of packing up on me. I bought a 2002 Holden Astra and as much as I love my baby (the car!) ...it's been such a PITA because of the hatch aspect, wouldn't fit my first two (bulky) prams in the boot and when I bought his highchair etc I had to get them delivered because again it wouldn't fit.

Just take into consideration that you have to have a carseat in there, and if you need to pick any kind of bulky item up from somewhere it may not fit...

Good luck :)
