My girls have come alright now that they are older but they've all had heaps. both my girls had bad cradle cap. i used almond oil from the health shop in the afternoon and gently massaged it with a soft brush before bed, left it over night and brushed it again in the morning before rinsing and washing their hair. takes a few days but works a treat! I actually found oil made Daniels far worse.. we shampooed his hair regularly and it reduced it alot. When he was in the bath we would just use a scalp massager comb on his scalp to get rid of any loose flakes. The best thing I found was just to use regular olive oil, rub it in in the afternoon, then wash their harid like normal at night, and it was gone. Sometimes needed to comb the last bit out. Caden had it really bad!! It drove me insane as it was quite thick, I got some cradle cap lotion, which was crap so I used Vitamin A cream that they gave me at middlemore for his dry skin, I would massage it in to his scalp a few times a day and then eventually I could gently remove the cradle cap with my finger nail or his baby brush, as it was all soft.

Spencer still has tons, I tried olive oil when he was little but it didn't seem to do anything. I occasional wash his hair with aqueous cream if its looking really bad but try not to cos it gives him a greesy look. I have heard about making a paste out of baking soda and putting that on it whilst they are in the bath but i've been too lazy to try it. It never bothers him and he has sooooooooo much hair you can't even see it now without looking for it.
I did use to brush his hair a lot with one of those soft baby brushes, he liked it and I read that it helps distribute the natural oils and it loosens it up as well.

Brushing with a gentle brush after a bath and gentle hair wash was what we were recommended by the plunket nurse, seems to reduce how much DD has, though it's back again within a day or two. Hannah had it quite bad.
I left it alone for the most part (although, the urge to pick was there ).
But in the end I put some calendula oil on it and it went within a couple of days.

We used to make sure we gave her head a good rub when she was in the bath, to stimulate the scalp. When it was really bad i would put some oil on her head a few hours before her bath and a hat, then wash it all out at bath time.

you can rub oil - baby oil is what i used to use - into their heads about 10/15 mins before their bath and rinse it off in the bath...   

or someone once suggested to just rub her head with a dry flannel.
