my right eye is the worst too.......although i can't read anything on the computer from 30cms away at all with either eye!   just one big blurry mess

how old are your glasses? i got mine through contents insurance because they were under 5yrs old. they were $600-700 for lenses and frames.

DzinerGirl - yep, my right eye is shocking. I can't even read the screen without my glasses, and it's maybe 30cm away from my face (I'm lying in bed with a laptop). I can only make out the different shades of things - lines of words just look like a blurry black line. My left eye I can read the screen with only a little difficulty.

Glasses suck at times - my nana is blind and all the optometrists have said I'm going to be like her in the long run

Does bad eyesight get passed on to your children? I'm severely short sighted (especially my right eye, as above), and DF is colour blind and has astigmatism. My DH pays up to $700 a pair including frames, he is very short sighted (8 and 9) with astigmatism and has to have special lenses and complete frames.

Last time we went to get his eyes checked we thought we could just get new lenses in his frames, but although the frames were okay they would not have lasted three years, which the lenses could have easily. yup the frames are the dearest bit it depends on the strength of lenses and what else you do with them e.g. non reflective, transitions etc. It might pay to shop around and see if you can get a good deal. I know the likes of OPSM etc often have deals going that are quite good. Gosh this sounds almost exactly like me Kate! Although I'm sure my 'stronger' eye is getting worse

For me to get new lenses would be around $150 (for non-reflective lenses - one very strong lens and one not so strong lens) plus the eye exam which is $45. The frames are the expensive part - my last pair was $550. As a rough guide, lenses are anywhere between $60 and $150 depending on non-reflective vs reflective and the consultation depends on where you go - maybe another $60-$80...?
