lu, jack's new room is going to be themed the same got some curtains off trademe the other day that are blue with rockets on them and i'm going to do a few stencil pics on the walls.

While my first preference is for Classic Pooh stuff, I have decided not to be so fussy, the room is coming together nicely as it is - with a rather eclectic mix of toys and decorations !

I do have a confession to make though, that the stick ups I got are actually the same 'watercolor' ones that you would have seen by now Gen *ahem* Like I said, I'm trying not to be too fussy here Might see if I can convince DH to take me to Edex toys tomorrow, but as I've already had a wee spending spree lately, might have to save that for another time

And Robyn - interesting that you should mention butterflies ! Once I have the stick ups and other Winnie hang-up things on the wall, there will still be some room on the bedroom and closet doors, plus a gap above the windows and some other random spaces that I am planning to stencil and paint - with butterflies

Edex toys in Takapuna has a lot of classic winnie the pooh toys and what-not and is nicely located right next to Pumpkin Patch!

I found nothing else on my hunts today...only what I texted you about Jax....classic pooh socks at Spotlight and Disney Pooh but kind of faded water colour type that could almost pass for classic. I might go back and get those.

Have already looked at Spotlight and couldn't find what I wanted, so I was really pleased when I found this stuff at the Warehouse - it was cheaper too ! Gen - you might want to have a gander at the one in Glenfield mall, that's where I picked it all up, but some of it was the last one of certain things. It is hard to find all classic Winnie stuff, I had to get over it a bit which was hard LOL Although I will also mention that we have classic Winnie sheets and a duvet cover, and apparently there's a toy shop in Takapuna that has other classic Winnie stuff, but I haven't checked it out yet. Hubby wants to go out looking for / buy his new bike today, so might corral him into taking me there - despite the fact that he almost had a heart attack when I bought all of yesterday's stuff (My reply was, "But honey, I'm nesting !!" hehehehe...)

Ok, FINALLY found some stuff to put on the walls for now, from the Big Red Shed of course !! A couple of hang up WTP figures (Pooh and Piglet), and some stickups... still want to paint some parts... but might just do something like stencil little clusters of butterflies onto the wall at random, much easier... plus the room has become a lot 'fuller' with all the different things in it now - ie: it wouldn't be such a big deal without a proper border. we rent our place but it's owned by my family trust so we can basically do what we want with it. we're in the process of doing up the spare room for jack and i can't think of a colour to paint it. it's a dark forest green at the mo which is too dark and i wanted to do a yellow colour, however dean is against this.
so today, i'm on a curtain mission to find some cool boys ones and then we'll decide on the wall colour to match the curtains.
it's fun decorating rooms for your kidlets, but at the same time it's a pain as i'm not that creative and i really want him to have a fabulous, cool room
anyway, i'm blabbing and time is a wasting...

You are so lucky you get to do your babies room up. I never got to do it with any of my kids as none of the house's we have lived in are ours. I've put things on the walls and windows, but i would have loved to have been able to go the whole hog.

Ok so, with the view that trying to hunt down Classic WTP things might not work out, I came up with something that I actually quite like - my own design for a border around the nursery walls, all using color swatches from the Resene website, and a stencil as well. It's just a mockup, and what I end up painting won't be exactly the same of course - although the 'background' color is almost identical to what is on the walls already. Let me know what you think !! (And don't worry, I'm not all heartbroken over not finding WTP stuff, just have found it too time consuming and frustrating so far - this was a much easier alternative to come up with !)

Thanks Toni, I found a few the other night and will add yours to the collection. I have had a really good idea for making my own border though, which could turn out really nicely if the Classic WTP doesn't. I went to the Warehouse today though, and it wasn't even worth my while really, grr !! Oh well, may just give it a bit of a rest until we've actually moved house - we'll see.

Don't give up Jax becuase you can definately get the classic Pooh stick ons. Try Baby City, I think I may have seen them there??? Or check some other Spotlight stores because when I got Sam's I had to go to 2 of them to find the ones I wanted.

I will be in Spotlight down here this week some time as I am looking for wooden letters to paint so can have a look for you??? Will let you know if they are here and maybe they can send them to a store near you?

The Pooh set is cute isn't James' mum?! i was going to say that too, or cut the pics up piece by piece like a puzzle, that way you can draw around the outline of each one to make up the whole picture. those stick ons sound good though.. i was wanting to do something like that for Ayja's room, but have opted for painting pictures and framing them too as her wallpaper is icky (the only room in the house WITHOUT white walls.. very 70's pattern instead) and i don't think the stick ons pictures would stand out enough. the nice thing about stick ons i suppose is that once baby gets older, you don't have to do a whole heap of re-painting, just peel em off and find new big kid ones.

We have just had a heap of fun with the girls rooms and decorating them. haven't fully finished as we are still looking for a disney princess (or any really nice pink) double bed duvet - cos paris is in a double bed... it is proving more difficult than previously thought. The thing i have found that have not yet bought (though plan to next week) is bunnings warehouse here have the cutest light shades, and they come in winnie the pooh and disney princess.. so once we get them it will finish off my girl's rooms apart from a few minor details (have also seen some cute winnie the pooh toys for $10 each at warehouse in all characters)

another nice touch is that most places like warehouse and kmart sell the photo frames with winnie etc on them too.

i always said i wouldn't do winnie the pooh for my child's nursery, but it's cute and easy to find heaps of neat stuff, so why not. I have done winnie the pooh, simba and nala on canvas for two reasons
1 - We had our house painted on the inside last year
2 - We only have a 2 bedroom house & James' oldest son enjoys his own space so i don't want to turn it into a nursery.....even though he's only with us every second weekend.

Anyway here is my suggestion for you Jax may sound like hard work but it does work - Photocopy the pictures to the size you want (black & white), put the photcopied picture up against the window so you can copy the outline on the back of the page, when you finish that turn it over put the penciled side up against the wall where you want to paint and go over the orginal lines and this should leave a light penciled outline on your wall..hope that makes sense to you.....good luck

Or you could load them onto the computer and hook up one of those projectors they use when you're doing PP presentations (your DH might have one at work, my Dad uses them all the time).

We used the Winnie the Pooh stickons for Maya's room. Partly coz we're renting and partly coz I am supremely lazy. I bought her a set of plain drawers when she was born and was going to paint them white with Pooh stencisl. Hahahaha..... was just having a chuckle at myself as I spotted the monitor in Sam's cradle in the picture above.

Thats a bit OTT hey? He was only 2 hours old there and we had just got home from the hospital and I naturally was off to bed hence being "stuffed" from all night labour. I guess I was worried I wouldn't hear him??????

How you change as I only remember having the thing turned down as low as possible and the base unit on the other side of the room under the change table. After a few weeks you will do anything to get some sleep!

Jax the stick on's are about $35 I think but in the pack you get the full set of Winnie, Tigger, Eyeore etc.

Yeah, was thinking of doing the sort of stencils you've got Toni, but not sure it would come out with the detail I'm after, or in the size I want? Will keep it in mind though.

I just spent the whole weekend stencilling teddy bears onto our nursery wall and that was a real pain in the bum (and back, and knees lol). Depending on how big you want your pictures Spotlight do acetate paper (I think that's what it's called) where you cut out your own stencils.
Our nursery is all fininshed now - just waiting for baby to arrive (but not too soon!!!!) I know it's not the same Jax but Spotlight have packs of Winnie the Pooh stick ons in both the classic and modern version. They are removable so don't leave any marks on the wall.
It may not be what your looking for as painting your own is such a lovely personal touch. I will put a picture on of Sam's that I used for when we were renting. Now that we have bought our house I just peeled them off and put them on his new wall.

I'm planning to stencil on and paint in some Winnie the Pooh (classic) figures on the wall of the nursery in our new house, but am a little stuck for an easy way around it. It did occur to me to get the outlines onto overhead transparencies, then project them onto the wall, but the trouble would be in finding a projector - I haven't seen one used in a really long time, not even at work.
