well, im not sure what happened last nite, but we gave her some colic powder, and a dummy, we also rolled some towels up and put them beside her in the cot and moved her up the cot a bit and she slept from 11pm - 6am and from 7am - 9am when i had to feed her again as one boob was dripping so much it was like a leaky tap...hahaha

First off your doing a great job. Like angelnz said she was a little baby and they like to feed more often then bigger babies as they have more catching up to do, so to speak (also my aunty told me that, she is a midwife). Try a dummy which ever one works go with it i think most dummy's these days are orthodontic one's.
My kids all sleep on their tummy's Blair was 3 weeks old and Ryan and Katelyn 5 weeks. I know its not the done thing but if that's the only way they will sleep then do it or like you said you will go insane. Blair still sleeps on his tummy and he's almost 4. Ryan and Katelyn suck there thumbs so they didn't have a dummy for very long, so thats even better i don't have to worry about them spitting it out all the time.

I had all the same problems try putting books under the top end of the cot so they are propped up a bit. The plunket nurse taught me a little thing to get jack to sleep without having to let him cry; first wrap her and put her to sleep on her side, rub between her eyes so she has to shut her eyes when she is asleep roll her onto her back. If she wakes up go back in and rub her eyes again to try and settle her or just go in there and rest ur hand on her so she knows your there but don't look at her. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didnt but i also gave Jack a dummy.

Go the dummy! Hannah would only take the Tommee Tippee ones with the cherry teat (all orthodontic tho). If all she wants to do is suck, the best thing you can do is give her a dummy so you can get some REST! And like Maria said, if you can handle it leave her to cry for 10 mins at a time, resettle without picking her up if you can, then another 10... It is sooo much easier to do it when they are a few days old, rather than a few months...

we used an orthodontic dummy too, on both girls. NUK i believe. it really did help them settle too. i know soooo many people are anti dummies, but it is a very natural thing (the sucking) in babies. i wouldn't hestitate to give it a try kaz. the dummy stopped so many of the comfort type suck feeds where they werent wanting any milk just to suck.... and it saved my sanity!!!! Well she was a little bubba and they do like to suckle alot at night. If its possible to have her attached to your boob let her. As soon as she looks like she is about to nod off put her down in her cot. have a hot water bottle in her cot before you put her down (take it out when you put her in) so the transfer is from warm to warm.

Try a dummy the orthodontic ones are good.

My kids would only settle on their tummys......soooooo I dont know if you want to go down that track. But it did help with colic/reflux.

Ummmm put her in her pushchair in the lounge.

And if you know she is fed, cleanbum etc she may just be overtired and if you can handle it just leave her too it in her cot for 10mins go in settle her if shes still crying then leave her to it again.

Maybe a trip to the plunket family centre would help you.

my little darling wont settle at night, and is constantly looking for something to suck on.

i suspect she has a mild case of colic and that maybe just maybe i might need to get a dummy for her, as i am starting to go insane with her constant crying and need to suck.

what i am wanting to know is what is the best dummy to get and some remedies for colic and any ideas on how to settle her.

i had a bath with her this evening and then gave her a feed, she fell asleep on me then as soon as i put her down she started crying and has been unsettled since, (and yes she has been winded and changed)
