There's so many reasons as to why this could be the case but I noticed that he seems to go to sleep in anything which is tilted - this is a common baby thing as it is more comfortable on their tummies (especially if they have any reflux issues). Jack was relatively similar and the hammock turned out to be the answer for us. I wrapped, and at that stage would also leave him for a few minutes, then if he kept crying, would go in and resettle. I tended to have him in his own room (and still do now). I also used a hammock which was an absolute godsend. I had DD in her bassinette in the lounge during the day to start with, until the Community Karitane nurse suggested I try her in her normal room for all her sleeps (at that stage was our bedroom), and that along with wrapping her, 3 hourly feeds and the 1 hour up routine (as suggested by Peanut) was what worked for us.

My wee boy was a wee bit like this for a while but I highly recommend the 1 hour turn around so that they are only up for one hour at a time and then put back to bed. This helped heaps with his day sleeps. I started having problems with Jackson waking up after 20 minutes during the day and not going back to sleep.

Plunket told me to make his room as dark as possible. I can't do that (white curtains!), so I made a wrap thingee to go around his hammock and it has worked INCREDIBLY well.

Since using that during the day, and darkening his sleeping world, he has slept soundly through all of his day naps.

i went through the same thing with my littlest girl, i don't have any fast solutions though sorry! i guess it's just persistence. i left my wee one to have a little cry for 5 or so minutes in her cot and generally she settled herself to sleep. (she still has a bit of a grizzle now when put her down but is getting better) everyone has different schools of thought. but that's what is working for me at this time :)

Just wondering if anybody has any tips for getting babies to sleep during the day. Sophia sleeps well at night in her bassinet but not during the day. She will sleep fine during day in push chair, capsule and wrap but not in her bed!!! It is fine when you want to go out or out walking but no so great when you want to stay home, I am not getting anything done at home! Bassinet in lounge during day so she is used to noise, movement etc around her.
