Kmarie- thanks for that hun You certainly do have a gorgeous baby girl

I think mine must've been thrush- the swabs came back clear but mw says that doesn't mean I didn't have it and the canestan seemed to help...but I think what really really need to do is cut right back on sugars (incl fruit sugars) and yeast...those things seems to exacerbate my symptoms. Sigh.

Ahhhh pg is so lovely.......

Emmecat... I wouldn't stress. My dr prescribed me canesten a few times while I was pg & neither he nor my mw or the pharmacist mentioned anything about being careful with the applicator. So I just did it like normal... and my lil girl is now 2months old! I also think that once the placenta is doing it's job you don't have to worry as much about that kinda thing. And you'd be in that boat by now I would think

yep, creamy but not smelly.....itching actually stops when you resist itching it!!! Funny that. I have bought some yoghurt but seem ok...maybe just buying it is all you need to do. Sounds like thrush to me. Also your CM will be creamy but shouldn't smell.

The yoghurt works for me but doesn't work for one of my friends so I guess it depends on the person. I have only ever had thrush once or twice ( I think) so I am not too sure what it really feels like. I've also heard that having a warm salt water bath can help relieve itching and help add recovery.

That's interesting, I asked yesterday if Thrush showed on the pee stick & I was told no, I had to do a swab. The Pee stick was perfectly normal so no UTI but trying to rule out thrush, not sure what is wrong as it doesn't feel like normal thrush, ie no itching, no smelly discharge etc ...can someone brave the TMI for me

Emmecat, the only concern with using the applicator is making sure you don't insert it too high. When I was pregnant I was allowed to use the applicator for thrush but had to be careful. The MW was just being cautious and I'm sure you will be fine!

Argh I went to my mw ysterday and it seems I now ironically have a good does of thrush myself!

She told me to buy the pessary adn insert it with my finger but did I remember to do that? NO! In my fog of pg, I used the applicater and now am really worried I might've done some damage.....do you think a one-off use like that will hurt the baby?

I used the 6 day Canesten pessary cream treatment recently and it was fine (according to the pharmacist and my MW). Just be careful with the applicator. Good luck. What a pain thrush is, eh?

I cant remember what the cream was called but it was one that you insert with an applicator every night for 6 nights in a row.

I got prescribed the pessaries (I think they were 3 day ones) and told to put them in with my finger not the applicator to make sure they didn't go too high.

However I would call healthline and check because I know in the first trimester they are a bit more cautious.

To help with the itching you can wash around the *outside* with a vinegar and warm water solution. That often stops me going nuts.

I used the 6 day cream inserted half way up while pregnant with DD....I got thursh every second week!!

The yogurt is really good. They say to soak a tampon in it but obviously tampons are not allowed. Could be a bit tricky getting it to where in needs to be but it really works. My mum was a bad sufferer and she used to eat the yogurt on a daily basis and she said it helped keep it at bay. It is the 6 day cream you use. Just don't insert the applicator in as high as you would had you not been pregnant.

I used to use Kolerex cream which is a natural alternative... you can drink a tea too but I never did... I found it worked better than anything else, its nice and cooling.

Along with the Probiotics too for the internal balance.... I got stuck in europe somewhere on a sunday and no chemists open with the worst case of thrush ever and had to hunt down some natural yoghurt with afidophilous and I can tell you it worked quicker the canestan every did!!!!! highly recommend giving that a go.

DH and I had only been dating for 4 months and it was our first trip away, soooo embarrassing. There's an organic/natural treatment available at organic and health stores that is ok for pg. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called but will check at work tomorrow lol. Natural yogurt applied can be a relief and probiotics have often helped me when I've had thrush in the past..... I think canestan anti fungal is fine to use externally IYKWIM, it's the applicator thing that you can't use in late pg only. Well that's what a pharmacist told me anyway
