You will just have to make sure that you sign an amendment to the permanent contract stating that it replaces the fixed-term contract.

This happened with me when I was working for a government department. I was offered a permanent position about a couple of months before my fixed-term contract expired, so the permanent contract had an amendment attached to the contract stating that I was ending the fixed-term contract early to start on my permanent one.

Are there any implications in this? Do we need to just make reference to the fact that this contract replaces any prior agreements?

My boss wonders if we need to wait for the fixed term to expire first but I'm sure you wouldn't.

Thanks!!
