All I know is after all I put her through for the first half of the pregancy, until I actually found out I was pregnant, Kiya is one very loved girl! If we're talking about what NOT to do in early pregnancy, while unknowingly pregnant with Kiya I:

- at approx 8 weeks went on a week-long trip around the South Island with my boyfriend, which was basically one long party!

- at approx 12 weeks wrote off a car (I walked away shaken, but with nothing worse than deep tissue bruises from my seatbelt)

- at approx 14 weeks had minor surgery to remove a benign breast lump, involving being under general anestetic for 1 hour and on major painkillers for 5 days

Kiya is fine!

I had a friend who had a x ray done ...and one week later she found out that she was 10 weeks pregnant. They say X ray is the worse thing for pregnancy. And yet her daughter is fine and healthy!

thanks Roksana! Isnt it funny how all these little things we take for granted suddenly become these huge big dangerous causes for concern?!?! Anyway it is done now, so I just have to put it out of my mind, but I am a it peeved that the place I went to didnt even display a sign or anythign saying that it MIGHT be dangerous, if I had seen that I would never have done it!

Some thing about the rays that could harm the baby I think.....may be I should do a search

"Some authorities are studying a potential connection between neural tube defects and ultraviolet radiation. They site evidence that shows that the radiation breaks down folate and puts preconceptional and early pregnant women at higher risk for giving birth to a baby with spinal bifida or other types of neural tube defects. One such article, published in 1999 by Jablonski in Medical Hypothesis, concluded that "intense or prolonged periconceptual exposure of women to UV light for recreational or therapeutic reasons should be avoided."

"There have been no controlled studies of the direct effects of tanning or tanning beds on pregnant women or their unborn child. In view of the evidence of damage from ultraviolet radiation to the skin of the mother, however, it makes sense to me to avoid this type of activity for the duration of pregnancy."

I'd avoid tanning purely because my skin was so stretched that I didn't want to dry it out and cause any more damage!!!! That's juts my personal hang up though...

ummm i used to topless sunbathe when i was pregnant with Alyssa. Now I am very self concious about my saggy baggy and not to mention rolly polly body that i dont. I used to use a sunbed - for emergencies only (feeling pasty before a girls night out   lol) and there was a sign saying that you shouldn't go on the sunbeds when preggy (didn't say why though). I haven't...I think I'd be really worried about over-heating espcially on a sunbed.
