I have had my belly button pierced twice, my tongue 3 times, my nose twice, my lug once, and both my ears pierced once. But all I have left of all of those are my ears.
I have a butterfly at the base of my back (so darn cliche I know!) and my star sign symbol on the lower left hand side of my tum. I had the first one done and was really pleased with it and wanted another one so got the butterfly one which I now really regret. I have just my belly piercing and my ears - cot my ears done when i was 2 and a half, and my belly done when i was 17 - (decided it was a good idea after finding out my ex was cheating on me!) feel pretty good that it has survived being half ripped out by a nasty kat who dug claws in as she jumped... ouch ouch and ouch! and also thru 2 pregnancies. Probably wouldn't take it out now cos it hids my belly button which is a little more streched than it used to be. when i do take it out to clean it or put in a new one i alway slook in the mirror and think "YUCK!" so i think it's part of me now.

Hey art lovers! I have a fairly lge tat on lower back (which I designed) of some thorny gothic-looking vines intertwined coming out from a seed. The weired thing is that from the right angle, it (unintentionally) also looks like two scary-looking eyes staring at you!! I want to add to it to take away from the whole "scary eyes" thing though!! I have a tatt on my back of a sun and another one that goes from my hip to where my bra sits on my side, everyone thought it wud go real gross when i was preg but it didn't and its still the same now.
I wanna get something to symbolize Jack but don't know what me and Ben were thinking of getting the same thing so it can't be too girly. Now i wish i had a print of Jacks newborn hands that is the best idea.

I have five tatts - got the first one at 2am in Kings Cross in Sydney one drunken night when I was very young, it's a ribbon with Carpe Diem (seize the day) on it. I have an indian feather on my left ankle which means 'the warrior has been wounded in battle' to symbolise getting out of a bad relationship, my stepdaughters name tattooed on my right boob with some flowers and stuff (she picked the design), the chinese symbol for rebel on my left arm (OK so I was young and stupid...).

My most recent addition is Maya's newborn handprint with her name and date of birth on my right arm. I have had so many comments about it, people seem to think it is just fantastic. I thought it was pretty clever myself, but can't take the credit - I stole the idea of somebody else. Will get the twins hands as well, but that will have to be on my back coz it's the only 'blank canvas' left.

Oh and I took my tongue piercing out when I got preg this time (decided it's about time I grew up), and have a few holes in my ears, I think 3 in each but I never wear earrings. I do wear one earring at the top.

Jax - both my brothers have stretchers, Paul's are like yours, not that big, but John has these massive ones (not sure what size they are but I can ask him) and they look so bizarre when he takes the stretcher out - his earlobe just hangs lol. Hehe ...that's a good point sb1337! I remember my second mum telling me once that she had a rose tattooed on her butt ...but, at 60+, it was looking a bit wilted! She said so with a huge smile on her face Probably the only tattoo I've seen which I thought 'Hmmm' about was my SIL got a large one tattooed on her back when she was very young, and then piled on quite a few kilos and it's all stretched out of shape ...but she still loves to show it off! I've wanted a tattoo for a long time, but have never come up with a design that I love enough to have indelibly inked on me. The husband suggested a kiwi (for kiwi-made - a salute to my parents) holding a thistle (a salute to my scots heritage). I like that idea, but I'll probably sit on it for ....oh ...about 10 years!!

I think the most fab tattoo I have ever seen was on a friend of mine - she had quite a few, but this one was my favourite. She'd lived in England for a while, in what was apparently a gorgeous, really old house, and one night (she was something of an artist) she'd sat down and drawn the design on the bannister, and then had it tattooed into her bicep. It was a really large, gorgeous, and intricate tattoo! I always loved it! Funnily enough, it was my curiosity that bought us together as friends ...she had a shaved head, other than a bright pink (very full) ponytail that went down to her butt. She was also the most beautiful women I've ever seen ...very Angelina Jolie, without the lips! I have (so far) three tatts - a nordic compass on the upper centre of my back, a celtic religous symbol on the lower centre, and the pagan on eof the same on one ankle. Would like more, they are sooo addictive, but am a bit undecided yet. Got my belly buttine peirced about 10 years ago, and took it out when I was about 7 months preg as it got uncomfortable. At that stage i didn't realise you could get "maternity" bars. There is still a hole, but I haven't put my bar back in, it makes me feel faint when i try, I hate the sensation.. (might have to get drunk forst!) oh yeah, have 2 holes in each ear, got the 2nd ones done a couple of years ago so i could always wear a set of diamond studs, but they peirced them unevenly, and it looks rude, also,one hole not straight through, but on an angle,so is difficult to put earring in. Oh... just remembered... I've had both my ears pierced up the top (at different times) but had to let them close over.

The right one, which I did first, lasted about 6 months before my ear started to grow over the butterfly. Seriously. It was sore! The doctor had to hold the butterfly with tweezers to remove the earing, and it bled for a couple of days.

Hi Ginger ! Not offended at all, because I don't wear the type of earring that is hollow through the middle a lot of people don't realise just what sort it is and that it is *actually* that size, and often also ask if I've lost the one on the other side LOL And to be honest, I'm not sure exactly what the 'appeal' was when I first started it, it was only small as that's the way the stretching works - only just went up from 9mm to 10mm the other day, but am considering stopping at this particular size because if it gets any bigger I would have to have it stitched up should I decide to take it out. If I don't end up taking it out (the one in my ear), I have considered starting on the other one so at least they're kind of even I have a huge thing for body art in general, and along with my other piercings and tattoos was something I wanted to try and then got hooked (although I absolutely do realise that it's not everyone's cup of tea!). One of my personal beliefs (or series of, maybe?) is that the body, despite the amazing things it does, is just a shell that I will leave behind when I die - and how it appears to others is not the most important thing, which to me is not just being alive but living. Hope that doesn't sound too airy fairy and makes a little bit of sense !

Oh, and yes, sometimes I take the ear stretcher out and go 'ewwww' but like I mentioned before, it is removable in a sense and would probably completely heal up over time.

And interestingly enough this thread has actually given me some more food for thought on other tattoo designs I might like in future, in particular to do with children - I am quite intrigued / attracted to the idea of having something done to represent my baby once she's born.

I have a cute devil holding a flower sort of at the top of my bum and the chinese character for desire at the bottom of my spine. I want to get the chinese character for angel on the inside of my wrist for the twins I lost but not sure if I want one in such an obvious place. My SIL has one there and I love it but will I still love it in 20 years time? After this baby is born I want to get something done for them, possibly thier hand prints and names but not sure. They are definatly addictive I reckon. My first one i got with my MIL, she has a couple now too and the desire one my hubby got me for my 21st birthday and he got the same one on his arm. For my mums 50th she wanted on so we all put in and she got a rose on her hip.
Im not a huge fan of peircing, have always thought about getting my belly button done but never had the body for it so didnt bother. I have a friend who has the gap between her boobs peirced and it always freaked me out (not that I saw it often of course) but you could feel the bar that ran from the top to the bottom (is about 4cm long I think) also I cant stand the big stretched ears, it totally freaks me out, just as popped out belly buttons do. I cant see that sort of thing, give me blood and guts anyday but stretched skin or broken bones where the limb is bent the wrong way and i get sick.

Ok. First I don't want to offend you Jax by asking this question - but I'm fascinated, and since you brought it up ....

Looking at the pic of the 'stretch' earring - it looks like one of those barrel type things where if you took it out, you'd have this big hole in your earlobe. Does that make sense? Anyway - what I'm fascinated about is the appeal of it, for you, to get one. I mean, don't you think ... what if I don't want a big dangly earlobe when I'm 50? or, what's this going to look like when I'm 80? Do you ever take it out and think 'ewww'?

(I'd just like to reinforce that this is purely a question from curiosity, and not me being judgemental at ALL ...just in case it sounds like that - I really don't mean to - asking questions is just the best way to get answers!)

I see a lot of them around and it's something that I've always wondered about.

Oh, and you might have guessed I don't have any tattoos. I had my belly button pierced, but had to take it out because of infection problems, and I have 2 holes for normal earring on each ear, but never really wear earrings. i have a butterfly on my back, and i just got xanthes name on my lower back at easter. There is room for ONE MORE kid on the other side, and thats it haha. as for piercings, only ears now. had navel done, but it got ripped out, now it is too scarred to get redone ( plus the stretch marks mean i would never show it off to anyone)

I have designed on that symbolises the boys but havent as yet decided on where I want it.
Also have a pierced belly button.
My friend worked for a tatto parlour and was virgin skin when she started and shes got screeds of tatts and piercings now and has even been in the tattoo books. Ok so, I can't recall if I've ever spoken much about it before, think I might have but it would have been ages ago. Anyway, thought I'd randomly quiz you all about if / what y'all have... I know I'm not the only one on here with 'body art' LOL Unfortunately, the only photo I could find was one of my biggest tattoo when it was only half finished...



It has since had ALOT more detail added plus color, and there's just a *little* bit more to go before it's "perfect".

I had another / new one planned for after that was done, but of course it has to wait ! Tattooing really is quite addictive...

I'm also at the least piercings I've had for a while LOL the nipple had to come out, and I don't really wear all of the ones in my ears anymore, half of them have closed up anyway :P

I have a 10mm stretch on the right side, and can fit two 'normal' earrings in, one of which is up the top of the lobe.



On the left one I can fit in three 'normal' ones. Also have bellybutton (yes, still ! ), tongue, and nose. Used to have a nipple piercing, but couldn't keep it of course





Ummm... other tattoos, one on each ankle (maple leaf, and pentacle), plus two more on my back, one baby dinosaur (dumb! i know...) and a gorgeous wee dragon... may try and take "new" photos of those sometime.

So what about the rest of you ladies?
