Hey Kandice can you do one or two papers at a time starting in Feb to see how you go. Also there are heaps of scholarships available for when you are ready.

Kandice - if you are postponing cause thats what you feel is best for your family - good on ya, but if you are postponing cause you are scared.....you need to face your fear.

When I got my first job teaching I was terrified. If you search, you can probably find a thread saying "what have I done, I don't even like kids!!!!", and a lot of people telling me (very nicely) to get over myself. It was terrifying, but on the other side, I am so proud of myself for getting stuff done.

Thants exactly why i think i should postpone. Right now im not in good head space, i have alot of things going on and i think that trying to start in feb is going to stress me out even more. Iv just cancelled my student loan.

Probably a good call, you need to be in a good space to do as well as you can. Could you ask for some reading or some pre course work to do before july, it will help you get into 'study' mode and they will see you are keen and proactive. Just a thought.

Iv decided to put it off untill June/July.
Iv just sat down and really thought about it.

Everything is getting ontop of me.

I have HUGE relationship problems, i have living back at home problems, i have stress of finding a house and coming up with bond.

Childcare for Kylah while studying.

Work.

I think i should put it off for a few months.

While i know i still want to do it, if the house/relationship issues dont work out il have a relationship break up to deal with too and i want to be thee for Kylah when/if that happens.

I am so stressed out i dont know how to control it, i think i need to eliminate what is causing it, sort myself out and reapply. When i can really focus.

Thanks guys for all your words of support i REALLY dont know what i would do without you guys.

Go for it Kandise, it is not like you are rushing into it, you have put a lot of thought into it. Kylah will be so proud of her mum and I know that having my qualifications does make me more positive that I can handle things. I am sure there will be times when you question why you are doing it but we have all been there. In the medium/long term you are doing something that will be a great benefit to you and Kylah, and that is what matters.

I have a good sized student loan and I was paying it off when I was working but am not at the moment. If it means you can get ahead make use of it and it is a huge help, I couldn't have gone to uni and t col without access to a loan and scholarships.

Hope everything goes well at CPIT today.

Kandice, debt is NOT a bad thing to have, we all need debt to get ourselves ahead. Its the managing of that debt that is the key, so as long as you can manage it, you will be fine. Believe in yourself!!

I only work part time, and i think im just a few hundred over the threshold for have to pay back, do they only take money off wehat you ear OVER that amount or your whole income? Do they take WFF into account when adding up that total?

To be honest, I don't notice my student loan repayments coming out of my salary. Granted, it's money I've never had (I've been paying for a student loan ever since I started working full-time) but because you don't see it, then have it taken away, you don't really miss it. Kandice getting into more debt is something to think about BUT the reward after will be soooooo worth it!! The chances of you failing I would think are slim as we don't like to set ourselves up for failure so generally don't do it and there will always be help along the way.

Don't worry about it, if you decide you don't want to do the course anymore, part if not all of the fees will be refunded back to studylink...read through the terms and conditions of your course, it usually has a guide.

I am a part time student, have been for a few years now. It can be scary getting back into it and take time to adjust to the workload but its the best thing you can do, I wouldnt change it at all.

I can't help with the student loan thing though, I've just signed up for another two (two different polytechs) because I'll be studying fulltime and working fulltime for 2009.... Arrrg! I just got my letter from studylink saying that my student loan was accepted and that i have 7 days from the date of the letter to cancel and not have to pay anything. Funny thing is the date of the letter is the 11th Dec, so i have untill tomorrow to cancel if i dont want to go ahead. How is that right? Im sure its not. I just studied legal and compliance at work for the comsumer, privacy and some other act, cant remember.
Anyways not the problem..

Iv got cold feet. What if i dont want to do it anymore, or what if i cant? Why do i do this to myself! What if i suck at the whole thing and i blow all that money!

Grrrr.
