Hmmm, well obviously dh is home today and we have had no fussing or screaming.

 

I have given him more gripe water before the tricky feed and a longer nap in the morning, when the screaming does kick off, its generally the hiccups which make him stop and get calm again which makes me think it might be wind.

 

I had looked into reflux but he never spits up at all, and is absolutely fine after some feeds and sleeps flat no issues there at all so don't think many of the symptoms apply.

 

Difference on the weekend is after his morning feed, dh lets him sleep for an hour or so in a front pack and i normally put him to bed, so maybe being upright helps.

 

Going to see an osteopath anyway, as don't think that can hurt.

 

Going to monitor the random screaming patches, see how we go, thanks for all your ideas.

with Colic they scream at a certain time each day so if it't that you could try some Weleda Colic Powder which worked wonders for our little monkey. I dont think its wind,,,,if its happening at the same time each day. Caden goes through days like that when he just wont settle for about an hour or so, I used to try winding him but that wouldnt work, and he wasnt hungry. So I found the best thing was to go for a walk with him to calm him down.
So maybe a morning walk would help? After his nap, when he wakes at 11, feed him then pop him in the pram and go for a little walk during that fussy time of day, the movement and different atmosphere might help him to be more settled.

Id say if it was wind, you would definitly know...they usually do pull there legs up, Caden would pull his up one at a time and fast when he had wind, and he would pull his chest and head ford aswell. A friend also told me there go a little blue looking round the mouth when its wind.

Do you eventually manage to bring wind up and does that make him happy again? If not, I wouldn't think it was wind, especially as it's earlier in the day (I've been told that wind builds up during the day and is worse in the evenings?)

My DD had symptoms like you describe: the obvious pain, screaming, the fussy feeding/refusing to feed, hiccups, being better when on our shoulder/upright, plus we also had wheezing, coughing, gagging, and (this developed later) an insane amount of puking. We tried some meds and she was a different baby. Kayla has just started doing this between 8pm-9pm too, and I have put ours down to wind - but also possibly some sort of intolerance to lactose cause it only happens if I have had milk the day before! hehe Caden started to scream awhile back and it just got worse and worse and now he hurts my ears!

I think its just a thing they do when they find their voice it doesnt realllyyy sound like wind to me...
But, do you use infacol in his bottles? I used to give caden infacol in ever bottle and it helped heaps with wind

I take Jackson to City Osteopaths on Featherston St. I was seeing Nicola but she is about to move down south.

I saw Lizzie last week and she seemed really nice.

you may want to think about taking him to an osteopath if he has bad wind and hiccups - they can really help. The one I took Amy to at about 4 wks old was like getting a new baby (a better calmer less screaming model ). I now also think its wind. I guess his morning feed is the biggest especially as he is going longer without at night.

Just takes so long to calm him down. He finally calmed down this morning when he got hiccups and i read somewhere that has something to do with wind. He never seems to burp!!

Actually the thought he could outgrow it first is pretty good.

 

Well at least he naps well after all that fussing - he's not the only one who needs a nap now.

To be honest, it does sound like wind. Sometimes Jackson wakes with a high pitch scream and normally it is something trapped., even though I ofen doubt it is wind. He doesn't draw his legs up either.

When they have wind they often mistake it for hunger too, so will quickly try to eat but it usually causes pain.

Does he have a particularly big or fast feed before his sleep? Ok forgot to add that during this screaming he is kind of making hungry noises and when offers the bottle sucks and swallows and then screams.

So just now i winded him for about twenty minutes, put him down he got hiccups so i sat him back up again and offered the bottle again and he drank calmly.

My boy used to do this between 6 and 7ish every morning about that age. Nothing I did really helped. I just cuddled him and eventually he outgrew it. Not any help I know.

Hi,

 

Ok my lovely son seems to have developped a time of day he likes to be really fussy and not just cry but really scream.

He gets up about 8, is fed and has a nap about 9.30 - 11, then he starts to cry and so i try to feed him he takes some and then screams and nothing i can do seems to stop it, much jiggling around and all sorts - but it appears to be the same each day - any thoughts.

he will be fussy now until his next nap, which i normally start sooner than i would as he is just so unhappy.

 

Other feeds in the day are not like this and its horrible. He acts like he is in pain, no obvious wind signs though, not really pulling legs up or anything, being on my shoulder or over my knee does calm him down - so i just don't know.
