They were having the three feeds you talk of at around 9-10mos. The day one is very easy to drop. Next easiest is the morning one cause you just have to get up a little earlier and serve "real breakfast". The night one can be a comfort thing also but I found that my girls dropped it of their own accord when they weren't getting any other feeds - as in within about a week.

(Remember to give her water as well as cows milk to drink, especially in summer.)

    Author: Maya
Subject: 23264
Posted: 21 December 2008 at 4:15pm

Could you switch one of those feeds for milk from a cup or bottle at the same time as she'd normally breastfeed? I know some people see no point to introduce a bottle when kids are as old as Hannah is but we weaned Maya onto a bottle at 10 mths coz it meant I could still have that cuddle time with her in the evening before bed. You just don't get the same thing if they're drinking it from a cup. Once Maya stopped having a bottle at night she stopped having milk at night full stop, that was around 22 mths.

Mind you, the gremlins are 2yrs2mths and still having 2 bottles a day .

If it were me I'd switch the evening one to a bottle feed (or cup feed) and keep up the morning one so you get the extra snuggle time in bed.

Of the morning and evening ones, which one is probably the better one to drop?
On the one hand, the morning one gives her instant satisfaction - plus it gives me time to wake up before I need to get her breakfast ready

On the other hand, the evening one is a nice, relaxed way of chilling out before bedtime.

Either way, I'll be offering cow's milk, so she'll get milk of some kind once we drop the breast.

I'm just really wanting some ideas from those of you who have gone through it.

Ideally I'd like to have her weaned by 18 months (initially it was 12, but all things are well in that department, so I'll carry on..)

Thanks
