jack has settled in very welll - flynn the boxer is getting better he still follows Jack around so we always know where he is. rhyley keeps picking Jack up and putting him where he should - actually this afternon I was wondering where RHyley was - found him under the tramp with Jack on his knee and Flynn the boxer sitting right next to him - so cute had to take photos (will put on here one day just can't get on the big computer to do it)

Hehe yay for kitties!
We woke up to 5 being born on our bed this morning >.< LOL! So in 8 weeks if anyone would like one (chch) Please let me know! We've got another batch cooking which are due any day as well. So far we have 2 white, 1 white with a black spot on its head and a black and white one.
Will be the only kitties we have too after the next lot from the other cat are born (not my cat - my mums) so thats it. All except the white ones will be free - they will be going on trademe to pay for my cat getting fixed!

well I got him and its not the one in the picture above..

Hes gorgeous and is asleep on the bean bag as i type this and settled in very well... Our dog hasn't taken his eye off him but has settled to sleep as well... Rhyley loved him and kept saying 'Hello Cat' and 'my cat, mine' So cute...

And cant; go without a couple of pictures

Isn't he cute! and he has very unusual markings although can't tell in the photos as much

She is beautiful. I say go for it. But then I love kittens and cats too.

As far as the dog goes - it'll take them both time to get used to each other, and there may be some 'arguments' while they establish the ranking/heirarchy in the house, but after a while they'll be fine with each other.
Even pets that don't become best friends usually learn to co-habitate in the same house.

Definately once you're pregnant you need to avoid the cat tray completely. Just make it DH's job. That's what I've done - we've had our 2 new kittens for about 10 days now and DH has to do all the 'dirty' work. I get all the cuddles.

and Our boer will go mad but hopefully settle down once he knew the kitten was here to stay... i might just bite the bullet and get her... and yup dh cat so he can clean up mess!

I agonised over whether to keep our kitty or not (we were originally just looking after him till we found another owner - he was a stray). We did keep him, and I'm so glad we did. I found he was particularly good at getting my DH (who's also way to stressed out) to relax and have a laugh, so I'm sure she would do the same for your DH.

What a cutie! We have a mad boxer too, as well as a cat. We had the cat first and basically Beans (the boxer) always wants to play with Mika (the cat) but Mika barely tolerates Beans. I wouldn't recommend getting an adult cat unless you knew it was already used to dogs.

If the kitten you have in mind is used to young kids then hopefully it wouldn't automatically take off when it sees the dog, cos if your boxer is anything like ours, if something runs away, then it's a game and he wants to chase it. (Although sometimes that backfires - our cat has been known to run through the house and hide behind a door, then jump out at the dog as he comes through )

Maybe take the boxer along to visit the kittens to see what the reaction is?

TBH I found toilet training our cat simple when he was a kitten, just took him out to the garden, used a warm flannel to rub above the base of his tail (simulates the mother cat's tongue, apparently they do that to stimulate them to 'go'), and he went, and we only needed to do that once and we never had any messes inside. But if you need kitty litter then you could make DH do it - it'll be 'his' cat anyway

Our dog is a boxer and is mad and an inside dog....

I ended up going to the SPCA and getting an adult cat, for DH a few years ago, as I wanted one that was house trained. She's the most adorable pet, and loves DH.

An adult cat might be more tolerant of a toddler too.

No seriously - I would consider how it will affect your dog and whether your dog could warm to the kitten after time. I have had heaps of cats but only ever one dog and they got along fine. The dog was an outside dog and the cat spent alot of time inside so I guess this helped.

Sorry not much help -hopefully someone with both dogs and cats will have some good advice.

I am thinking of getting Dh and kids a supprise Kitten for Christmas - but so indecisive about it... i mean its not the cost.. its cause we have a dog who goes mad when he sees any cat and also I worry what Rhyleys (whose a typical 2 year old into everything) and toilet training the cat - litter box and everything... then we are ttc'ing so is that wise to have a toilettraining cat if I got pregnant net month?

But I think Dh would love this cat and hes had a very hard few month at work ,, I just think he will be soooo over the moon....
