As Jess said said...it's a lifestyle change not a diet.

I'm sorry to say that herbal remedies are not going to be a long term fix and you will more than likely gain back the weight. Author: NeoshasMummy
Subject: 23357
Posted: 30 December 2008 at 3:15pm

I thought weight watchers was expensive until I REALLY looked at it, $17.90 each week and buying fresh produce in your groceries may "cost" more but so many people have had success with it and at the end of the day it's money going towards a good cause. It actually works out WAYYYY cheaper than the tonnes of diet pills I have tried and diet programs I have gone on. My theory is now I am worth that extra $30 a week. ( actually but cutting out takeaways, coffee's, gum and trips to the dairy im actually SAVING money lol.

Anyway as the others have said you can do the plan yourself without paying $17.90 each week.

It's not really a weightloss program it's a lifestyle change, hence the reason fad diet don't work. Trust me I have tried them all and gain back with interest because trying to "lose weight" is a much different concept to changing habits and getting healthy.

Anyway good luck for number 2 im sure you will work it all out

    Author: AandCsmum
Subject: 23357
Posted: 29 December 2008 at 6:11pm

Has anyone read Susan Powter's Food?

She has this fat formula that you do on individual items of food you buy. You decide on a level of fat % that you allow & if you keep below that level will depend on how much weight you loose, you can start higher & then work lower. It means reading food labels.

Plus I've done it on the WW food in supermarkets & they are pretty much all good.

The formula was "designed" by the american FDA but they kinda forget to tell the public about it lol.

What you do it you take the Calories & Total fat off the back of a pack of food, apply the formula & if it's below your % level then buy it, if not put it back.

The formula is Fat x 9 then divide this by Calories.

So off my Vita Brits per 100g, Calories are 354, Fat is 1.6. So:
1.6x9=14.4
14.4/354=.0407
To read this answer...it means that 4% of each the above Calories is going to turn straight into FAT.

My Act II Butter Popcorn hehe...515 Cal, 27g Fat
27x9=243
243/515=0.4718

47% of those Calories are going to sit right on your Butt as fat LOL

If a packet of food doesnt' have a Nutrition Info guide....DON'T buy it

I think when I lost weight last time, I didn't touch anything over 30% and worked it lower over time & the more aware I became of what I was eating as well. There is a level that you shouldn't go below & I think it's around 17% or 15%. I have lent the book to a friend so I can't look it up. In saying that I mean that you eat a range of food under that level. if you go too low, you will be cutting out food items that you actually need. I think I lost a good amount using 25% as the highest % food I would buy.

You could do it at then end of the day on all the food you eat or you could do it on each individual item. I did it as I did my shopping, that way I wouldn't have it in my cupboard.

Obviously fruit & vege's are good. Portion sizes dont matter as well & obviously exercise is a must.

I have found as a treat that McCains Healthy choice frozen chips are only about 34% where as other brands are up around or over the 50%.

Some things to watch though is the Sugar level in some foods which are low fat. Ie Coke is low fat but the sugars are Bad! So cut all fizzy out as well.

Edited by Aliasmum
