Author: cuppatea
Subject: 23395
Posted: 31 December 2008 at 7:38pm

They normally do the diabetes test as a standard thing as it's possible to get gestational diabetes (being over weight is a risk factor as is a family history of diabetes but some women get it without any risk factors). I had my test at around 24 weeks. Funnily enough though I was never tested with my first, I was under a different midwife that time and don't know why I wasn't tested as it seems as though it is a routine test for all women.

I'm sure if anything has been picked up on the scan about the size of baby or the room that was a concern the sonographer/radiologist would have said something.

It's also quite common to have to go back for a second scan we nearly had to this time as he had his arm across his heart which meant that they couldn't take the images they needed to, but eventually we were able to get him to move. He had also tucked himself right into my hip so looked squished even though he could have moved if he had wanted to. He was so squished that we were unable to see his face as it was pushed right into his chest but it wasn't because of a lack of room.
