I had a spray tan for mine (but I got it done in Aus).

I also did it a couple of days before the wedding and it didn't rub off on my dress. BUT it definitely rubs off on your clothes afterwards and they say to sleep on a towel or really old sheets for the first night because it will rub off. As someone else mentioned the key to not having it go patchy is to exfoliate before you go. I did the hoilday skin lotion stuff as I had a backless dress and really bad "racer back" swim suit tan lines.

It rubbed off on my dress, you could still see the tan lines a bit in the photos...

But to be honest when I look back at my wedding photos 12 months ago I think I looked pretty fine if I do say so myself ... at least compared to how I feel now ie ...8 months pregnant, fat, bloated and white. I look at my fake tan stained wedding dress and just wish I could still fit it.

Have a great wedding day don't stress about anything and have the time of your life. I am very anti sunbeds due to the cancer risk that comes with having direct UV rays blast your skin.

I would go with the spray tan, but get it done a good 3 days before the wedding so all the excess has washed off.
My mum does spray tans at the salon she works at, Im having one done before my wedding, but just my back shoulders arms and face and legs not the belly.

ETA-Ive never had any probs with the tan fading either, it usually takes a good two weeks or so for it to come off my my skin.

I went with a spray tan - and did a trail about a couple of months out which let me see how it wore, and gave me time to find alternatives if I wasn't happy. As it turned out I loved it, it worked well, and I got some great comments. I am against sun-beds - I have fair skin and a high risk of skin cancer. I do suggest that if you are doing a spray-tan you do a trial run now well before your wedding. And you get the tan done a week or so before the wedding so it has a little time to wear and fade a bit. You definately dont want to be looking all orange on your wedding day!

I think the self tanning moisturisers are probably the way to go so that you can layer it up to the colour you want - again I suggest trying it now.

I would reccomend getting a spray tan. the trick to getting a even tan that is n't patchy is to exfoliate .

yep Id go with neither and use a self tanner, the Johnsons ones are good and Im using an oil of olay one at the moment which is great!! Just got it from the supermarket too!

I agree with jack & charli - if you use the lotions you need to start now as they build up really slowly - and the best effect is after some time. You have almost two months and that is plenty of time

I've never done spray tan but am keen to try as well. Mayby the best bet would be to get a spray tan done now and test drive it.
My sister got malanoma from tanning beds but she was a massive user. I'm sure using it once or twice wouldn't hurt. i got a spray tan for my wedding and really wish i hadn't because it stained my dress and looked hideous in the pics..........i had it done the week before so had 2 showers in between

but because i have fair skin, sunbeds just don't work for me unless i did them for a year before hand

I was going to do sunbeds but was too scared to be honest!

I did a spray tan trial though and wasn't happy with it at all - it was pretty patchy and I was so so glad that I had not gone ahead without a trial. I was on a tight budget towards the end and didn't want to pay to try someone else out so I used Dove tanning moisturiser every day in the lead up to the wedding. I also had a little bit of sun here and there(using lots of sunscreen of course!). I wore a strapless top whenever I left the house for the whole month prior as I was so paranoid about lines! (I had a strapless wedding dress).

Quite a few people commented on my tan on the day and saying what a great job either the spray tan or sunbed was - when I told them it was a bit of sun & dove lotion they were surprised!

I did a spray tan for my wedding too. I got mine done at a salon id been to many a time so I completely trusted her and knew she'd do a great job. I had mine done on the thursday before the wedding. I wasnt as dark as id liked by then but at least I had given myself a day to "calm down" IYKWIM.
I dont remember any of mine rubbing off on my dress, and Im pretty sure my salon lady said she was using a different brand to make sure that wouldnt happen. Yep I support the Spray tan as well! I used to Sunbed but now TOTALLY against it because of skin cancer!!!

I agree wth Chelle and kiwisj, if you can get a trial and wear white or light coloured clothing over that time to see how you go.

I had a spray tan for my wedding and LOVED it!! I had it done in Titirangi though so probably a bit of a mission from Papakura    

I'd get a trial if it's in your budget as then I worked out what I'd done wrong the previous time and then my 2nd tan was even better - like using loads of barrier cream.   It also meant I was able to work out when it was looking it's best and time it for that.

SPRAY TAN! I am anti-sunbed coz of the cancer risk too. I had a spray tan for my wedding at Easter and it was my second one ever - the first was the trial I did about a month prior. I'd definitely recommend trying it out ASAP so that your first one isn't the one you do for your wedding.

We spoke to the lady in the salon about the timing - she recommended getting mine done Thursday morning for a Saturday afternoon wedding. Best to get it done in the morning because you can't shower for about 8 hours (I think it is) afterwards, so you want to be able to stay out of bed too!

I did find the tan rubbed off a bit in bed the first night - it's not the actual tan though, it's what you see when they spray it on IYKWIM? It takes a while for the actual tan to develop.

I had tan lines before the spray tan but you couldn't tell in my wedding pics so I guess the spray evened them out One thing it does do is make your freckles/moles look darker which was a bit freaky That seemed to fade by day 2 as well.

My sis got a spray tan when she was a bridesmaid about 4 days before the wedding. By the time the wedding day came she had almost reverted to normal skin tone. However no problems obviously with it rubbing off on the clothes.

I'm pondering on this for my wedding at the end of Feb....Thoughts and experiences please!

I don't know which way to go I had originally thought spray tan but then have recently heard bad stories about people looking orange and it rubbing off badly on the wedding dress but then others have said they didn't have any problems...So now I'm confused

If anyone had a good experience with a spray tan and a white dress (LOL) what brand/company did you use?
