Yes they can be used for newborns. You just need an insert.

This lady sells them in New Zealand.

Mel I just googled it but the website didn't have very good info. can you put a newborn in one? Do they sell them in NZ or do you have to buy off the internet? I tried a frontpack when Jack was newborn and it didn't support his head very well so I gave up. I would fully recommend going for an Ergo instead of the wrap. You can wear it as a front pack or on your back. Supermarket shopping is one of the more challenging activities with a toddler and a newborn. I put my wee girl in the front pack and it works well, having anything on your front when you have to lift a toddler and shopping in and out of a troller is tricky though. My DD2 loved being in the frontpack and hated the trolley seat. I bought a sling for DD3 (for walks though; for shopping she was happy in the trolley) and found that a lot more comfy. I have used the frontpack a few times, just find it a bit awkward bending etc but other than that it been great.

I used my moby wrap so much with no#2 it was my life safer, expecially when I was on my own with the girls. It was so comfy and she could sleep the whole time in it. I highly recommend it!

We found supermarkets easy as wollies have lots of the todler and baby seats. I am finding it harder now as there dont seem to be as many double todler seats.

I hadn't even considered grocery shopping. Daniel loves going shopping so I wonder what I'll do. I can't do the front pack or sling thing cause my back already sucks ass. I'm wondering this too and thinking I might need to suck it up and get used to my front pack which I hated with Tom.  The one thing I can see as potentially hard is the supermarket.  tom sits in the seat of the trolley.  he's too young to walk beside me without destroying the place and too big to sit in a baby seat and you only seem to get two toddler seats or two baby seats.  not one of each.  so I was thinking Tom in the trolley and bubs in the frontpack.

I am wondering whether it would be worth getting a wrap (e.g. Moby wrap) for #2. I had a sling with Jack but he soon became too heavy. I just wonder if using a wrap would be easier when I take Jack to 'activities' such as the park, coffee grp etc. I can't see a pushchair always being practical or possible to use.
