You can apply for the parental tax credit though.]]>

So you might need to hurry up and put that in, and perhaps backdate it. Talk with your work about it.<br /><br />Alternatively you can apply for PTC (which is different from WFF tax credits - you will get those included in the PTC and then continuing on; or you will receive them on top of your PPL). PTC is much lower than PPL though.<br /><br />Your DH can only get PPL if he is the carer of the baby, as far as I know.]]>

Though some employers will pay for paternity leave - dh is getting one week paid paternity leave and taking one week annual leave. ]]>

If ur not entitled to mat leave then u should be able to get the tax credit, there are a few things that means u can't get it tho like being on a benefit, being on ACC accident payments for 3 months and a couple of other ones. And with IRD, you'll be intitled to Working for families, the easiest way to get info is to ring them, and they will send you out the relevant paperwork. Depending on income you may be able to get a community services card to help with medical costs. When baby is born, IRD have a special payment to help in  the first few weeks as well.]]>

The difference is that if you've been there for a year then your employer has to keep your job open for a year but if you've only been there 6 months they only have to keep it for you for the 14 weeks of PPL.<br /><br /> I wonder if you can still get it now that you've resigned, you should definitely find out! ]]>

He'd like a couple of weeks off once baby arrives - but it doesn't look as though dads are entitled to any parental leave? <br /><br />On the IRD/WINZ sites I can find all sorts of information to suit various situations - except mine! Has anyone else been in the same boat? <br /><br /><br />]]>
