My boy got viral mouth ulcers at one point and we used Medigel ( you can get it from pharmacy). Its much better than bonjela - instant numbness and you only need to use a tiny, tiny bit.
I would put that on his ulcers and lips before feeding. One thing my stepmum used to do was to freeze bananas for stepbrother to knaw on when teething.
You could try a little rescue remedy as well. In fact you can use it for both of you.
I think that getting water in him is the most important thing even just a mil or two at a time. Syringe it in if you have to.
Good luck

I know we have feed josh in the bath before because he was so overtired he wouldnt eat but he loves his bath and it worked really well for him.

Other than that we squirt pamol into josh mouth while its wide open screaming (just a little at a time so he doesnt choke on it) Maybe you could do this with water ir formula to hydrate him a bit.

I also go back to newborn tactics when he is really upset and wont or cant sleep ie wrapping him really tight and shhing and rocking.

Im sure you've prolly tried all of this tho hope you find something that works and you get a break. It does my head in when josh screams for 20 mins at 2 am and i still get a mostly good night sleep so your a legend for still holding it together at the moment. have some huggles

    Author: emz
Subject: 24007
Posted: 25 January 2009 at 8:19pm

So this is day 7 without much sleep, eating, drinking, or peace in our house. Jack cut 1 tooth last Sunday, then 2 more on Wednesday (he now has 12) but he now has ulcers and cracked lips from not having enough fluids and constantly having his mouth open (am now using Lansinoh on them to help), his lips are swollen, he's constantly bleeding from his lips or his gums, he's screaming all day and night (I got 3 hours sleep last night and he had no naps during the day), his naps are wet but only about 1/3 to 1/2 of normal for say a night time nappy and.... he's on Pamol and Nurofen constantly, he won't take bonjela cos it stings the cuts, won't take teething powder or sprays and is only eating pureed food (maybe a few teaspoons per meal) and yoghurt. Won't drink milk and his water intake is about 1/4 of normal.

He also won't let me hold, touch, feed, comfort, change him or put him to bed (which is great when I'm the stay at homer in our family).

Please please please any instant remedies, advice etc. My whole family today could not believe what a terrible teether he is, he just screams constantly. He's so hungry that he shakes but won't eat or drink. He's now starting to get an ear infection (as he always does when teething) and I just don't know what to do. I'm so upset, tired, hungry myself and I get so frustrated with him because he won't let me comfort him. I'll take him to the doctor tomorrow, but surely all of this can't be normal?

Thanks for reading, I just don't know what to do anymore and sometimes wonder why the hell I would want another one when I can't even handle one child
