Mines kinda the same Angie. He's a lot more into it now - asking me when I'm Oving and when I'm testing and everything - whereas he never used to before the surgery unless I bought it up. It's almost like now he knows its not "his fault" he's prepared to talk about it more

I have thought exactly the same Emily... I do know one thing, and I'm purposely being naive about this and taking it at face value but I have noticed a definite 'relief' for the want of a better word about my DH since his SA came back all good and I was diagnosed with Endo... he's a lot more committed to the cause! Yeah I wondered how hard it must be to aim in the 'moment'. DH had to do two because MedLab told him they were open on Anzac Day and then when we got there they said 'oh sorry we only take blood samples today'

Men are so funny.
Their part of the deal is far less intrusive than anything we have to go through, and lets face it - it's something that they all do and like doing.

I know it would be hard having to get their aim right to collect a sample, and yes they have to hand over a jar of their sperm to the lab staff but I'm sure they are well used to it.

My DH got the form and the equipment from his doctor and then we had to take the sample to the medlab. Only certain ones do the analysis - the nearest one to us (Takapuna) was in Ellerslie and you have to get it there within the hour - not fun I can tell you. I kept it in my clevage to keep it warm.

My insurance is through the Police and while it doesn't cover the whole lot, we can get a good chunk towards IVF if both parties have been a member for 4 or 5 years.

sorry to threadjack, but Gannet who is your medical insurance with as I didn't think there were any policies in NZ that covered fertility related issues.

And, my Dh also did his through our GP at Medlab. Our GP gave us the form and he took it to Medlab and they gave him a cup and a brown paper bag and he did it at home (3 weeks later!) and took the sample in. Well, my poor DH has had to do two SA... once for our normal GP so we went to Medlab for this. Treen if you are seeing to a specialist they might get your DH to take his sample to their own labs, I know FA does a more thorough sperm analysis than what Medlab do.

Mind you it cost $65 or something but our medical insurance paid that so we didn't mind.

He did his at the clinic and said it was fine, very private and they provided "reading material". lol Treen its not a silly question. But ummm, you get a form from your dr's and a small sample jar and dh provides his sample at home (well this is what my dh did) and then you get it to the nearest pathlab. It has to be there within an hour I think.
