Are all the appliances doing it or just the hot water? The only thing you can really do is check that the gas meter is fully on, other than that you'll need to get a gas fitter. If it needs replacing, get an infinity as it is 90% more efficient than storage.

It sounds like they have knocked some of the piping. This is very small in comparison but our gas heater does the same at the beginning of winter, it will ignite but not stay on. It's because it gets caked in crap over summer and the dust clogs inside where the flame comes out. Maybe they have managed to jiggle some dust into your one? I don't know much about gas heating (ok, nothing!) is there anyway you can reach the "fire hole" and clean it out with a cotton bud?
Idea's anyway, sorry if they are completely useless!

Our hot water cylinder gave up the ghost last year and we installed an infinity - the BEST thing we've ever done! Never run out of hot water and now have extra cupboard space where the cylinder was. Trouble is we paid through the nose as we had no time to make choices as we had no hot water.

It seems that some HRV install guys were here yesterday banging around on the floor with a hammer etc and since then it has got cooler and cooler until finally, tonight, no HW at all!

Is it just a coincidence about the floor being whacked yesterday or is our cylinder just got too old perhaps? The trouble seems to be that the gas won't relight - it will ignite but not stay on.

Does this mean a new cylinder? does anyone know?

Edited by busymum
