When he is ready you will be able to tell. He will start being absolutely fastinated with everything you are eating, he will lose his tongue reflex that pushes anything solid out of his mouth and his bowel motions might get a bit runnier.
People are well meaning with their advice but can be a bit annoying, you know your baby better than anyone so trust your knowledge and your instincts.
Best of luck when you do start solids!

Most probably wouldn't agree with my choice but my family were all telling me the same thing that they would get used to it and it would be easier in the long run and twins I'm all about the easy road

My girls adjusted very quickly and have had no problems with solids dispite not being what most would consider ready. The first couple of tries we got screwed up faces but they quickly learned to love it. Now at 8 months we are doing 3 solid feeds and 4 bottles a day and the girls are eating weetbix and sandwiches as well as other finger foods. They are fantastic eaters and I don't regret my decision in the slightest. Although all babies are different so what works for one may not work for another.
