Just like everyone said, your man will let you know when he is really ready for it!! The boys seemed to really love just fruit at first, and it took a few tries to get them to have it, maybe a spoonful a day, but they are having 3 meals now

Dont stress, just keep trying, they'll eat eventually.
And it's very normal for them to go off soids once they start teething too, DD did this and didn't really eat again until 8 or 9 months, she was happy with the boob. Then she wanted finger foods, she hated mushed up food! So yeah they're all different.

They go with growth spurts... Babies don't actually need any solids until they are 6 months old. When he is ready you will be able to tell. He will start being absolutely fastinated with everything you are eating, he will lose his tongue reflex that pushes anything solid out of his mouth and his bowel motions might get a bit runnier.
People are well meaning with their advice but can be a bit annoying, you know your baby better than anyone so trust your knowledge and your instincts.

I started the girls at 4 and a half months and they showed no signs of being ready, but with twins I wanted to just jump in and get them used to it so I wouldn't have to worry about trying something new later when they're teething or starting to roll/crawl. Most probably wouldn't agree with my choice but my family were all telling me the same thing that they would get used to it and it would be easier in the long run and twins I'm all about the easy road

My girls adjusted very quickly and have had no problems with solids dispite not being what most would consider ready. The first couple of tries we got screwed up faces but they quickly learned to love it. Now at 8 months we are doing 3 solid feeds and 4 bottles a day and the girls are eating weetbix and sandwiches as well as other finger foods. They are fantastic eaters and I don't regret my decision in the slightest. My uncle's wife has a kid who never had any solids until she was 14 months Seriously, she just wasn't interested, she was happy and thriving on breast milk. I didn't even know babies could last that long with no solids. They offered all sorts of food all the time but she just spat everything out. Finally at 14 months she decided to give it a go and there has been no looking back.

Agreed - no need to rush the solids. We started Josh at about 5 1/2 months, but just a little bit of baby rice once a day.

Caden wasnt really that interested in solids until after 6 months and even now I have trouble getting him to eat veges, he screws his face up and makes horrible noises lol. he will eat fruits and baby rice but it did take him a while to get sued to them all.

Just leave it a couple of weeks Heather. I only started Joel as he was waking through the night again (and had been sleeping through from 11 weeks). Of course my little glutton is eating more than a jar 3 times a day now.

do babies 'get used' to solids? Alex isn't interested at the mo but someone is telling me I should just be giving him some everyday so he gets used to it. He isn't hungry and his weight is all good.
