Super heavy was maybe a week ??(memory loss). I had about 3 packs before birth and then got different pads as necessary.

The hospital ones are acutally really good - super long and very thick (like walking around with a brick in your undies ) but the padding is great if you are sore. They were much better when I had Sophie as they had changed them to have the sticky backing so they stayed put. I would suggest taking a couple of packs of their pads home if you can.
