I have 2 girls and the first time I couldnt stand any fragrance or perfumes. DH only had to come home from work, and I'd be off with my head down the toilet... then I'd try cover up the smell with the toilet spray and that would get me going all over anain.

Cooking smells got me going to especially the cooked chickens from the supermarket

 

Have to say with a lot of the smell I still haven't got over it and I still struggle to find a deodorant that doesnt make me feel naucious.

 

Second girl and I hardly had any problems with smells only petrol stations and bananas.

Hmmm, I dont recall having that with Caden....the smell of meat and coffee put me off while pregnant with him.

I was the same deoderant and perfume made me sick.. Also cigerette smoke made me hurl.. and parmasarn(sp) cheese

Usually I can't stand most perfumes etc and I don't think it got much worse during pregnancy with DD. I hated the smell of cat biscuits too (sucked to be working in a pet shop full of them, I could tell you the brand and flavour by smell ). I also vomited with the smell of toothpaste but I think that is because brushing my teeth made me vomit and my body soon realised what I was planning to do when I could smell the paste.

I was sensitive to anything chemical and didn't wear perfume at all during pgcy. We have a little girl :)

Oh very interesting!

With Leah it was everything, from toothpaste to the inside of the dishwasher to flowers out in the garden. If I had to prepare a meal I couldn't eat it, DH had to make my lunch before he went to work so I could have something during the day, then come home and make dinner while I sat outside under the carport, wrapped up in a blanket (middle of winter) and I couldn't go back in until everything was cleaned up. All of this was making me vomit not just feel crappy!!

With Joel, had no smell issues aapart from catfood, but i've always hated that.

With this pregnancy (boy ) ive been averse to the smell of my flatmates shepherds pie cooking (or perhaps im averse to my flatmate)

Sorry to say that when I was pregnant with Chloe, I couldn't stand perfume/soap/deoderant etc.... DH wasn't even allowed to wear deoderant because I would throw up!! And dishwashing liquid. And she was a girl I also couldn't stand cooking smells, smoke or exhaust with her.

This time around I'm having a boy and I still don't like the smell of dishwashing liquid but deoderant and perfume and stuff is all fine, and cooking smells don't really bug me.

I'm pregnant with my son and fruity smelly cleaning products and floral perfumes make me feel very sick.

When pregnant with my daughter it was coffee and cooking meat I couldn't stand.

Ok - so I have this random theory about sensitivity to smells during pregnancy and baby gender

3 of my friends who were hyper-sensitive to perfume / soap / chemical smells went on to have boys.

From my very limited research, those who weren't so sensitive to these kind of smells went on to have girls.

Can anyone else back this up? (or feel free to prove me completely wrong )
