Have you tried comprehensive they have a website. Its what we sell our clkients and seems to be quite resonable. I got mine with BNZ and for 7 weeks holiday (6 wk Uk and 1 week usa) it was under $500.

Will need - dates,destination, who is travelling and ages. We're going to the States for 6 weeks, I think the US is the most expensive cover anyway.

But it just doesn't make sense that AIG costs $1000 and State and Southern Cross only cost $500. I would contact QBE directly for a travel insurance quote, or depending who you are booking with, they may sell you a QBE policy..well priced and they are fantastic.

I work in travel and one thing I have realised is that travel insurance is absolutely essential, regardless of ANY other arrangement...e.g. the reciprocal agreement we have with Aus is just not sufficient cover...

Hmm should probably mention I dont work for any insurance company!! Last time I went overseas I didn't get it , but I was only going back to Oz and mum and dad have us all on medicare over there.

Where are you going for it to be that much. I did look at insurance for us when we went over and it was only $45 for 2 weeks to Oz for me and the boys. That was Southern X.

We went through State for our trip to America next month - I did heaps of looking round before getting that one. It had everything I wanted, and was one of the cheaper ones too.

We always go through Southern Cross because we are members so get a discount. But I would say the things you want to look at are what they cover, what their excess is and what activities are excluded (eg Skydiving). Some insurance policies will also cover you if something happens before you leave and you have to cancel flights - they will help with the cost of changing dates etc. Not sure if that's here but my SIL had to change her flights once due to FIL falling and breaking his hip and the travel insurance covered it. I always use the Southern Cross one cos it is cheaper than most others I have looked at being a member and all. Hmm I always get mine from ASB but that's just because I'm lazy and it's easy to do when I get my Foreign Exchange.
