Did your breech baby mean a c/s and how far along were you when that decision was made (e.g. 36 wks, in labour, etc)

Yes. Belle was head up, one foot up and one wedged under her bum. She was like that from early on and never turned. I eventually made the decision at 38 weeks because I was exhausted and feeling like a failure after many attempts to turn her. I just wanted it all over. Both the midwife and the OB were willing to wait until I was in labour if that was what I wanted.

2. Have you had trial of labour with a breech baby and was it successful?

No, I didnt try.

3. What baby-turning methods did you try (and how many of them are myths lol)?

I tried lots of time on my knees and elbows, lots of time with my hips raised higher than the rest of me.
Homeopathy (Pulsatilla)
Accupuncture (6 appointments)
Both midwife and OB tried to turn her manually (ouch)

If anyone's interested, this is a video of the little monster trying to turn (excuse my nasty PJ bottoms, k?):

Edited by AzzaNZ

(btw I'm in Palmy.) The breech thing has flipped me a little because I already have a c/s and VBAC history and I know my chances of trial of labour with a breech bub will be limited. I know to lean forward etc but I also have SPD which means I'm supposed to keep my legs together (or it hurts!) - so I will have to ask mw about that some more next week.

There was heaps of people suddenly in the room rushing and getting ready to take me to surgery for a c/s but when the specialist arrived he said it was way too late and josh was born feet first 3 hours after my waters broke and i had my first contraction. His first apgar test was a 3 but his 5 min one was a 9.

I really dont recommend it - although feet first is suppose to be the most dangerous bum first is a much better position if you wanted to try and avoid the c/s.

If you do get bub to turn avoid sitting or travelling in a car for long periods of time as it can be a cause of breech babies (or so was told when i asked if travelling 7hours to Invers at 36 weeks was ok)

Did your breech baby mean a c/s and how far along were you when that decision was made (e.g. 36 wks, in labour, etc)
2. Have you had trial of labour with a breech baby and was it successful?
3. What baby-turning methods did you try (and how many of them are myths lol)?
