    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=19393">MrsMojo</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 24571<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 15 February 2009 at 8:45pm<br /><br /><P>I carry my almost 3yo every single day, including lifting her out of her carseat if she's fallen asleep and is therefore a 'dead weight'.</P><P>As the others have said you're not going to harm your baby doing that but you may do yourself harm because of the relaxin hormones which soften your ligaments and of course back injuries.&nbsp; </P><P>It's good to be sensible about lifting things, and as your bump grows it will become more awkward to carry large objects, but it's not going to harm your baby.</P><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by MrsMojo</span>]]>

Don't worry about 15mo's, if he was your son you'd be lifting him everyday and that would really only be a concern if you had a high needs pregnancy. I have a big 2yo who I carry short distances and that's fine, so long as I stand right etc. ]]>

It's easy to forget that tere is a lot going on inside - not just with the baby but with you as well! Lift carefully and just take any challenging physical task slowly. (I was lifting 18 kg boxes on my own with no problem at 8 months, just 1 at a time)]]>

My back is constantly sore. Although a baby is pretty compact, so even if heavy I guess they are easy to hold. The things I was moving were lught but awkward shapped, so maybe that was my problem. ]]>

That is usually the best indicator as to whether you've overdone it or not.]]>
