LOL- I still don't know whether I have them, it's still just a possibility at his stage...going to the specialist tomorrow who will confirm (or not!) for me.

As for symptoms, well I guess they're the same as the above? ie swelling, discomfort....uurgh so gross. I don't have haemmoriods but think they're really common in pg? Anyway, fingers crossed for me tomorrow everyone lol. Although I don't know what the altenative to VV would be....jeez I don't know if I want to know really lol

Thanks- I've not had them confirmed yet...seeing a specialist on Thursday! It might be something else entirely, just the possibility was brought up by my Dr and mw. I've now been having visions of them exploding durng birth etc. Eeeeewwwww nervous lol

Yep you can get v v down there caused by the increased blood volume, and the extra pressure and weight 'down there'. The blood pools in the veins of the vagina and causes swollen veins.

There is an increased risk of bleeding during birth due to the swollen veins- meaning more chance of them getting damaged causing bleeding.

Thanks Peachy- I just spoke to my mw and she said if it does turn out I have them then we have to be a 'bit more careful' during labour and delivery?! WTF? But that it doesn't mean a c-section. Anyway have now FINALLY made an appointment with a gynae (much easier said than done!) for later this week so he'll be abe to confirm. I just had no idea you could get V V 'down there'.!

TMi but yep I have them! During my labour my varicose veins were the topic of conversation in the delivery room! Made for lots of laughs atleast

No one ever told me labour would hurt more from them though, my M/W marely just stated I had them and when I have finished having kids to get them seen to if I get break through bleeding.

I'm talking about vaginal varicose veins?! I'm going to a specialist soon as my GP thinks I may have these..eeewww. Anyone else had them or had experience of them? They're not haemorroids, apparently they're in the vulva or vagina. It's not confirmed yet but my Dr said 'wow you really need to get seen by a specalist cos if they are vaginal varicose veins then labour is reaaallllly gonna hurt!'

Aaargh who knew pg would present us with things like this?!
