If the oil doesnt work, try Mustela Products - there is a cradle cap lotion and a shampoo. Its brilliant stuff.

Ava had severe cradle cap that went round her eyes etc and we tried everything including oil and it just made it weepy and worse. The mustela was the only thing that worked. I was told that if the cradle cap goes into the eyebrows or down around the ears it is actually a form of excema.
Issy had it in her eyebrows and naughtily I picked it out and it hasn't come back, don't think it was excema like I was told. The rest is over her fontanelle and I do very little about it as I feel to scared to touch her there. DH is convinced that by rubbing it very gently with a muslin clothe in the bath he is getting rid of it. I was a picker . Bad mother I know, but I really couldn't stand it. Gave me something to do while BF him. In the Bounty book it says to gently brush babies hair/head everyday to stimulate the scalp. This what I did and the cradle cap was gone within a week or 2, and now her hair is growing really fast, but we went through a stage of looking like Friar Tuck from Robin Hood. Plus they say dont wash babies hair to often.

Yeah Cooper only gets bathed when it's warm or if he does a explosion that can only be cleaned by a bath. ie probably once a week as well.

It might be more to do with hierditary skin issues rather than bathing.

I'm using Huggies bath wash that I got given. I'd rather use a sensitive wash but haven't got around to getting one yet.

Hahaha Nikki! I massage him after a bath so might just put some on his head then.

Also just a side note about how often you bath baby, there seemed to be a correlation in our CG about how often babies had baths as to if they got cradle cap - ie babies that had a bath each night were far more likely to get it than say my little one who only ever had a bath once a week up to 12 weeks and then twice a week since then and has never ever had CC. In addition to that what bath products do you use? They dont really need anything when they are really little and not getting proper dirty, I did use a tiny bit of a sensitive baby all over wash (anecdotally J&J products were the worst for babies reacting) but as I said it was just once a week.

Sorry if I'm teaching you how to suck eggs but one last thing that may help someone else reading this because CC is a dermatological condition dont pick at it cos that will make it worse.

Ok this is Scully's Baby massage oil with Almond & Apricot Oil and essential oil of Chamomile.

He has hair but it's receding fast so it's not a problem putting it on.

My plunket nurse advised me not to use any vegetable oil or baby oil except olive oil, apparently something in the olive oil can react with the skin and make the cradle cap worse. Baby massage oil will do just fine - or olive oil or baby oil or even baby lotion if they don't have hair yet. olive oil or baby oil,...stick it on, rub it in a bit, then leave it for a few hrs in the afternoon.
