Nope. We need Dr "House"

They think its optic neuritis, but as shes got it in both eyes (usually its only one eye) they are a little stumped. Shes had a lumber puncture, an MRI, a CT scan, and theyve given her steriods and Anti-b's. awww Kaiz, only just read this! So sorry to hear, but sounds like your mum is making progress so thats good news. Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery. have they figured out what is wrong yet?

Thanks ladies

She got discharged today (very unexpected!). She had a bit of progress and could tell i had a yellow top on today. Shes very happy to be at home.

My brother is coming down from Auckland tommorow to spend some time with her at home so that will cheer her up also.

Fingers crossed her sight is coming back!

Oh that's awful for both of you. Even though she's lost most of her sight, what about taking some family photos in? It can be really good for the staff working with her to know more about her - can help kickstart conversations etc. Also means her room/cubicle is more personal rather than a just a horrible hospital bed.

All great ideas. I'll pop down to the library tonight. And I think I'll ask Janaya if Mum can borrow her mini CD player and go and get her cds so she can listen to them.

I did offer my Ipod to her but she wasnt keen as its too.

Shes only 45

If her hearing's not too bad, how about a talking book? It would give her a way to pass the time while she's there on her own. Hi Ladies

My poor Mum is in Wellington Hospital, she has lost almost all of her sight . She also cant taste, smell and her hearing is not the best either.
Shes going to be in there for a while as they cant figure out whats wrong with her.

Im just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what I can take in for her tommorow when I see her again? All we can do at the moment is chat with her. My heart just breaks when I have to leave her because all she can really do is just lay there
