Author: MrsH23
Subject: 24773
Posted: 25 February 2009 at 8:56am

My MW mentioned to me that an Antibody had shown up on my 28 week bloods but when I had bloods again at 30 weeks it wasn't there anymore.

She said there are 2 different antibodies that can usually show up on the blood tests and they may be there for one test but not the next one. I think she said that the one that I have is nothing to worry about and it happens alot in PG women. But if I had the other antibody they would have to keep a closer eye on it or something (sorry preggy brain trying to remember stuff from 6 weeks ago!!!)

I'm sure that bubs will be fine, atleast they know that you have had the antibody in your system so they can treat anything that could happen properly. I'm sure your MW would tell you if it is likely to affect bubs but it might pay to ask her on your next visit to double check.

MW said it was only a problem if i needed a blood transfusion - does anyone know much about antibodies? My concern is that - because it is an unknown antibody, could it hurt the baby?

TIA!!!
