I certainly had no problems with bruising or bleeding as after the birth I had finished bleeding after a week and (TMI!!) Hubby & I were back having sex within 10 days....
It is best to take your midwife's advice of course but I just find that strange advice considering arnica promotes healing, particularly for bruising

Edited by toniellis

That you can take before labour to help get your body ready. It has Caulophyllum in it at the correct dosages plus some other beneficial things & I highly recommend it, but definitely consult with your midwife before specifically taking anything. There is also a follow on formulation for labour which has higher amounts of Caulophyllum in it which I would also recommend

The 2-5 weeks before my due date I was taking 5W, EPO, Raspberry leaf tablets, Elevit & Pre-Birth. LOL not surpriingly I had my daughter on her due date

My MW suggested it to me, and said she doesnt usually tell poeple about it until they are 41 weeks but told me at 40 so i could have a think about it.

I was told to take it around 41weeks as it tricks your body into thinking it is more overdue then it really is. So effectively making your body want to go into labour much sooner. She also said everyone she has given it too has gone into labour naturally a couple days after taking it.

Im taking the 30c one every 15mins for an hour 3 times a day. Nothing much has happened yet except ive been getting more stretching pains.

So even though it's a medicinal herb it is still a poisonous plant - and I'd be consulting with a medical herbalist or naturopath before taking it.

I think it works a bit like raspberry leaf tea in that it tones the uterus, therefore, if you take it when you're nearly ready, it CAN kick start things, making for a shorter labour.

My MW gave it to me with my first (as I was 12 days overdue) - first dose was 200c then 30c for 6 doses after that. It gave me some mild period type cramps but didn't actually START labour, though I think it made my contractions (when they finally started!) more intense and useful...
