When I weaned 6 weeks ago, I started to get mastitis so took AB's. About 12 days after I stopped feeding (and while we were on a camping holiday!) both boobs were really lumpy and sore, tried massaging them etc, nothing helped, they still felt big and if I got leaned on I nearly hit the roof. 2 days after we got back I woke up in the morning and it was all gone, lumps, pain, leaking, everything. I did nothing and didn't go to the drs. Everything was settled by 3-4 weeks after stopping. I tried putting him back on to help at one stage and he just looked at me like I was crazy and lay there with it in his mouth licking it.

Yay there is hope. I'm just going to have to use a lot of distraction to ensure he doesn't ask for or expect the boob again. I'm feeling rather guilty, we managed to get this far and I caved (but with good reasoning I think).

Still you should have seen his lil face, he was enjoying it so much, eyes rolling back as he suckled. I was similar, having slow weaned but after my last feed felt all blocked but not mastitisy for about 5 days. Well the pain got too much, I let him have a comfort feed (yes naughty me but I was desperate, the pump just wasn't cutting it). He's totally relieved me and now my breasts are totally empty, no lumps or pain. Must have been a blockage building up slowly over the past 2 weeks.

Bfing him was awkward as hell, my nipples used to be hardy, but he seemed to be sucking differently so it was really uncomfortable (losing his sucking reflex possibly?). Not doing that again, hope he forgets about it and sleeps through still

Yeah I might just do that, although $50 for after hours doesn't seem all that appealing. Might just express again and see if i can hold out till monday.

Ahh yes we were feeding quite a bit in a 24-hour period and I didn't bf the day I went in for my op, and he hasn't fed since. That's why my first guess was an infection, but I feel absolutely fine other than having incredibly sore, tender, lumpy breasts.

The lumps are in strange places though, like on the underside of one breast and right near the top of the other ...just where it starts, almost my chest. Very odd. Nope doesnt sound normal. Depending on how you weaned. I have heard of moms saying that if they weaned suddenly. Like the child was still feeding 2 or 3 times in 24 hours and you all of a sudden stop that at about a week later they got lumps and it is sore and it turned out to be an infection.

I cant speak from personal experience as I weaned real slow and never had a problem with sore boobs afterwards. I've tried expressing but it doesn't seem to be helping, they've been quite painful for about 5 days now and quite prominent lumps that don't seem to move or wanna budge. I'm starting to worry its not engorged breasts/ mastitis.

I'm on AB's now following my op...not sure if those would make a difference or not. I've tried the hot cloth/wheat bag over breast while expresing, cabbage leaves etc etc.

A few times Lucas has touched them and I've let out a godawful scream.
