Yup I am hoping that the measurements are off and the next scan is all good.

Head is still up at about 60% and the thigh bone is 15%, I am not really sure about others cos I cant read the scan info.

I will check all that with the OB on friday!

I cant tell you this much, since we found out the little monkey has not stopped wriggling! Just letting Mummy know he or she is ok

I will definately express my wishes for a VB if possible.

It also depends on what gestation you manage to get to. At one stage they thought that Mercedes had stopped growing and they were talking delivery at 32 weeks and I would have had to have a c-sect as it would have been less stressful for her being both small-for-dates and premature. But if I'd been further along, they would have tried induction.

Rowan was IUGR but I would have just been induced if she hadn't been breech as well. I don't think there would be any reason for you not to have a VB. Generally if there's nothing wrong with you or the baby other than IUGR, a VB is still fine. They will put a foetal monitor on baby's head when you go into labour (might be induced depending on the growth in the next wee while) and if baby is distressed that's when they intervene. They will have the paed's there to check bubs down the track.

How are the rest of the measurements? My boy had a small tummy too compared to his body. His body was in the 25th%ile and his tummy was in about the 10th%ile I think. From 27 weeks we had regular scans and fortnightly from 34 weeks. Blake was IUGR and I was having weekily scans from 32 weeks I think up until 36 weeks where I went in for a scan and was told that he needed to come out that day (bit of a shock) I was told that there was a very strong likelihood that I'd have to have a c-section because the doctor was worried that he was too small to be able to handle the stress of a VB. The doctor knew I wanted to avoid a c-section if I could - they did an internal and found my cervix was favourable so I was induced in the morning and had my waters broken at 4pm. There was concern that his heartrate was dropping (down to about 80 bpm) during the contractions but I was allowed to keep labouring. I ended up having an epi and although the pushing part was pretty quick I did need an episiotomy because his heartrate had dropped to 50 bpm and we needed him out asap. Apart from that he was born at 9.47pm with no other complications other than being small (2.08kg)

Hi melnel. Emily was an IUGR and I had a VB. Not completely natural as I had an epi amongst other drugs for my pre-eclampsia. Docs were concerned about her small size and my worsening condition despite the scans and monitors showing Emily seemed fine. I had already started to go into labour (although I had no idea!!) and dialiated to 3-4 cms when the decision was made to deliver, so my waters were broken to hurry things along. Emily was quite small, only 1.35kgs. But I'm very petite myself so I'm guessing in comparison it was probably like the average-sized woman pushing out a 2 - 2.5kg baby. Even with the epi I could still feel the pressure from the contractions, and I could feel her head and shoulders pop out. I even managed to get a minor tear from pushing out such a wee bubba. My sister laughs at me about that.

Hi Mel, Liam was quite small (5lb 1oz) & I ended up having a c/sect but this wasn't because he was small. In fact, we had no idea he was going to be small until he was born. So it's a good thing you are aware of what's happening in there .

That sounds promising... I dont know alot about this so just wanted some feedback.

Bit freaked that we might have bubs this month (might want to sort nursery out) but trying to stay positive.

Speaking to my Mum both of us were small (5lb and 6lb respectively) and were both VB's so thats good to know.

My friend had an induced vb at 38 weeks due to baby being small, no other complications.

Sorry, I have no idea what the deal is if there happens to be a problem with bubs. But I had an natural trouble free VB with Ashleigh who of course was VERY small lol. So at our growth scan today (ordered as my fundal height had me measuring ahead) we have found out that bubs tummy is below the 5th percantile.

Dopplar showed all blood flow was normal and by poly was normal and BP perfect so we are off to OB on friday for further investigation and a second scan booked for 2 weeks.

I am still hopeful that the AC measurement was incorrect as she struggled to get it in the first place, but am thinking what next....

I know I will get answers when I have spoken with the OB, but I am just wondering how common it is to still have vaginal birth?

I know my waterbirth plan has gone out the window, so I am hoping I can still go natural!
