Like you, the Dr said it looked like scabies, but not the usual pattern etc. I worried myself sick that I was going to pass it on to my newborn! But I went and has skin scrapings done which were negative. It did eventually disappear when DS was about 6 weeks old. Both my Midwife and GP did not even mention PUPPS and didn't seem to know much about it, but from my research, I'm pretty sure thats what it was.
Good Luck!

I have recently been overseas (UK, Hong Kong & Taiwan). So it's not out of the question, but she said it was too early to tell, cuz I dont have the pattern that Scabies usually has. So she gave me some Calamine lotion. And I'll go see her again on Monday for another look.
I am so hoping its not scabies, dh should have it if i do, cuz it spreads in the bed (gross!), but he's fine atm.
If it is scabies, its a pretty harsh treatment that doesnt appear to be 100% safe for baby.
I'll keep you all updated after next weeks Dr's appointment.

MY MW just brushed it off, but my GP was great. I had hydrocortisone cream - you can buy it over the counter but they won't sell it if you're pregannt - they will make you go to the doctor. I was applying it lightly 4 times a day and it did help. I also used Calamine round the clock (every 2-3 hours) and that helped too.

Big hugs - it is the most miserable draining thing.

I know how you feel!!

Pinetarsol is really good just from the local chemist, you can get a gel for the shower but I hate the smell.

Otherwise you can get the Pinetarsol solution, mix it with water in a sealed bag with a few baby liners and wipe where you itch the most.

Also avoid soap it makes it worst.

If it doesn't ease up see you doctor and he/she can prescribe you steroid creams and Antihistamines, the anithistamines dont do much but just help you sleep if you have trouble sleeping - your doctor should go over the risks with you too with taking anithistamines.

Try not to scratch as it makes it worst even though it feels really good
I wished that I didn't because now I have scarring on my legs and stomach - didn't help that I used a nail file because its that bad.

My MW is the same, so I went to the doctors to get treatment.

I hope this helps

Edited by AngeB
