So lunch time is when he gets into he really exciting foods including meats.
I am a bit nervous to let him feed himself his last solid meal of the day as I have only just got him sleeping through the night and I fear that if he doesn't get a GOOD meal then he might wake again.

I think we did a similar thing with Dominic and when he got to that really independant stage Daniel is at I gave him some things he could eat himself and then quickly got a spoonful of dinner in between each mouthful.

What's he taking for breakfast and dinner?

Daniel is spoon fed breakfast, semi spoon fed lunch and feeds himself tea. The main reason I spoon feed lunch is to get his meat and vege into him, but I'm going to do some meatballs and meat he can hold himself. He's going through a really independent phase where he wants to feed himself, so the spoon isn't popular! Dinner is corn fritters or mousetraps with a banana.

Also a long response, but he's at a similar age to your wee one so it might give you an idea of what we're doing.

Today at lunch I gave him 5 rasberries, a slice of bread (small slice gluten free) and lady finger banana. He get a fair amount into him by himself but I"m just wondering should I still be spoon feeding him food?
I was thinking about maybe making his lunch just up of finger foods and then breakfast and dinner giving him cereal and mashed vege/meat.
I know he is still little but if he manages I don't want to just get used to me doing all the feeding for him.
Sorry this turned out to be a long post. I hope you understand.
